I usually carry a subcompact when out and about with 2 legged critters. Easier to conceal. When outdoors, I’ll have a full size on me as I’m not concerned about concealability.

I understand.
It is rare for me to owb, even a full size 1911 or my G20. Even when out of town, I still encounter enough 2 legged critters I iwb.

Meaning: say you carry in Condition 1 with a 7 round magazine - do you have 7 or 8 rounds in it ? Just wondering…

Condition one always. It’s the safest way to carry a hammer fired gun. I carry a 8-round Wilson in the gun with 1 in the hole, plus two 8-round reloads.

OWB is the most comfortable way to carry a handgun, for me at least. If I’m backpacking in the primitive wilderness, it’s OWB. All other times, I’m concealed.

Either way has been comfortable to me. If my back is giving me trouble I find a way to owb.

All my 1911s/SAs are gone, but I used to top them off. Never had a stoppage - various Colts, Star and two Browning Hi Powers.

I have seen people carrying 1911s and saw that their hammer was down. Either they have a round in the chamber, or they don’t. If they do have a round in the chamber with hammer down, the 1911 is not drop safe, unless it’s a series 80 with the firing pin plunger safety. It they don’t have one in the chamber and the hammer is down, well, that’s Israeli carry and that’s their funeral. I have a series 70 with no firing pin safety plunger, so it’s always hammer cocked, safety on, with a round in the chamber.
