Knives Illustrated Trivia question

Karl, the latest issue in my hands is January. You have to be more specific. And we have to have it to comment. :)

I think you are on the hotline mailing list.

Coop

The latest I have is January as well and couldn't find anything.

I think in general both Blade & KI do a very good job, however I wish the dates on the magazine correspond more with actual dates they're distributed. It's very confusing.
The next Blade that's due out the end of Dec. will actually be the March 2010 addition. :(

OK - I did just get it in the mail today and am an advertiser, so maybe they send out to advertisers first?
Anyway, it is the March 2010-Volume 24, No. 3 issue.
It's a word VERY often confused with another, but you'd think that with enough proof-readers on something as important as a cover that it would have been corrected.

Karl, I'm not sure if you are serious or tongue-in-cheek concerning "blatant misspelling" in a KI issue. Blatant misspelling, used in the context of KI, is an oxymoron. I just refused to renew my subscription because I could no longer stand to read it. Almost every page has typographical errors, misspelling, or just lousy grammar. I miss the previous editor! Oh, like Coop, my last issue was January.

Every handmade knife I've ever owned has an imperfection in it. Sometimes hidden, sometimes glaring. Kinda like me.

Humans edited that cover. I'll enjoy the copy nonetheless. Looking forward to the 'gotcha' now that you've piqued my interest.

I like Knives Illustrated.

Paul (blade5) took the words right out of my mouth.
KI has really gone down the last couple of years.
I will not re subscribe. I have a feeling that the
magazine will not be around much longer.

Calvary instead of cavalry? Not surprising since, as has been mentioned above, KI's proofreading generally sucks.

Well Karl I guess I will have to get the issue to see how my name is spelled. I will comment more when I see the magazine although I have been looking forward to it. I want to see what is misspelled now, got my interest up.

You win!
They showcase an article "THE UNIQUE HISTORY OF THE CALVARY SABRE".
CAL-va-ry is the place Jesus Christ was crucified.
CAV-al-ry is a mounted infantryman.

Here's the spelling from that link - "Infantryman".
Here's my copied spelling - "infantryman".
The difference is.......?

HI Karl,

CAV-al-ry is a mounted infantryman.

Note that you used a "lower case" "i" spelling Infantryman.

In fact the correct spelling is Infantryman.

What one person catches when proof reading will differ from another due to their background.

I don't know if I would have picked up the misspelling that you did. I do know that even those who write for KI...haven't received their copy of the magazine! :D
