I don't think so. Both IMDb and the DVD commentary stated that a real knife was used, suspended from a wire so as not to make contact with Cruise's eye. Very cool movie. I saw it about 20 years ago. Still left an impression, a must for every knife afficinado. I am just surprised: Did they have automatics during the second worldwar?
