knives in movies

training day, the serrated spyderco police daenzel threatened the street thugs face with was cool imho.

-"Knife in The Water" by Roman Polanski.-

1962 black and white Polish thriller. Polanski's first feature length film.

A prominent character is the German paratrooper gravity knife. A prized posession of the male student (one of only three actors). Similar to this one: http://www.germanmilitaria.com/Luftwaffe/photos/L02850full.jpg

Like other Polanski films, it is worth watching on many levels, not the least of which is the female lead, vaa vaa vaa voom!

and the movie with segal and kurt russel.

Executive Decision.

I will always be a fan of that movie, just because they killed off Segal's character in the first ten minutes. :)

The George Lainheart custom SEAL knives in "The Abyss" were some of my favorites.

Also, can anyone I.D. the knife that Val uses to cut open the money bag in "Heat"?

"Kill Bill, Vol. 1" - In the knock-down drag-out knife fight with Vernita Green, The Bride uses a SOG Desert Dagger. (Easy to ID that one: double edges, partially serrated near the tang, different serrations on each edge.) Couldn't make out what Vernita was wielding.

SOG Desert Dagger in Kill Bill.

Edit :Whoops, Gryffin just beat me to it.

The custom leather sheath made the desert dagger a lot cooler in that movie.

In Mission Impossible 2 that knife almost got into Tom C's eye, what knife is that??

wuyeah - whole scene is CG, the knife has never existed
I don't think so. Both IMDb and the DVD commentary stated that a real knife was used, suspended from a wire so as not to make contact with Cruise's eye. In fact, it was Cruise who insisted that the point of the knife some so close to his eye.

In fact, according to a goof site, you can see the cameraman and a reflector in Cruise's eye during that scene.

Very cool movie. I saw it about 20 years ago. Still left an impression, a must for every knife afficinado. I am just surprised: Did they have automatics during the second worldwar? Even in 1979 (one year before Spyderco was founded IIRC) when the movie was made, this seems to be quite advanced.

I the movie "The Fan" with Robert Deniro, Wesley Snipes, and Benicio Del Toro, you see a lot of Gerbers and some other models. In fact, Deniro's character is a knife salesman. The name "Gerber" was also mentioned in the movie.

This has been driving me crazy ever since I read this post, the movie,I cannot remember the name, but Russel Crowe is a merc type guy who is trying to rescue Meg Ryan's hub. Any how,he uses what I think is an SOG tool, does that have a blade, like a sheepfoot?,or a similar knife,to cut a guy's throat when they storm the camp. I may be watching too many movies, and thank God I never saw that done to someone, but it shure was realistic to me. Does anyone know this movie, also,David Caruso was one of Crowe's merc. buddies, let us know,VCM3

I did a search, Proof Of Life, when Crowe cuts the guys throat he gags.:barf: You gotta see it,make sure it's an un-cut version. If any one knows the knife let us know, like I said,I think it's a multi-tool of some type.Keep watchin'!
