Knives Mechanics carry...?

I wrenched a lot in my twenties, and I carried a full serrated Spyderco Delica. The serrations were great for heater hose, belts and just about anything else. The zytel handle was tough and impervious to fluids.

At work, I tend to carry my Spyderco Citadel, (good grip, easy to open) and a Leatherman Charge Ti on my belt (a ton of uses for those on and around airplanes). When I am working on my Jeep I tend to have whatever I have been carrying, but my Manix 2 has been through a lot on the Jeep.

+1 on the serrated blade for heater hoses! makes a HUGE difference!

Buck 186 Titanium, Schrade 51OT, Berretta Avenger, Benchmade AFCK, BM 730, Pat Crawford Framelock, Bud Nealy Aikuchi Fixed Blade, Case Camp Knife, Buck 103 and 107 Fixed Blades, BM AFO and various Spydercos just to name a few.

I'm a Nissan master technician. I keep a Kershaw, Snap-On edition (the short, thick, red one) in my tool box for the chores on the cars.

All the rig mechanics In my shop carry kershaw or cold steel. They mainly carry kershaw because of snap on. They can easily get one on the truck... and if they have a broken one they just swap it out.

I carry either spyderco with full serrations the ukpk, case sod buster and a gerber eab utility knife. I been doing these qualcomm installations on big rigs lately.

I was an outboard motor mechanic for years and my knife of choice was a Vic Tinker. Handy in a pinch at the dock and cheap to replace. I burnt the blade tips up on a couple of them jumping solenoids when I didn't have anything else.

I'm in sales and work directly with mechanics. The knife I've sold the most is the Kershaw Clash. Very comfortable in hand, assisted deployment, and reasonably priced.

I wrench for a living. I wear a Leatherman Charge and a Surefire 6P in a combo sheath on my belt and have a Strider SnG clipped to my pocket. Some days all the machines are running and I don't have to use any of those... ahhh those are the good days.
