Knives Mechanics carry...?

I'm one of those FAA type-certified aircraft mechanic/inspectors, and I had a Spyderco Delica for years (until it got lifted). I also had an Olfa utility knife I bought off of a Snap-on truck that I liked a lot too. I like my Paramilitary now, but I have my eye on others.

Heres a link to that Olfa one that I had- its the "18mm Heavy-Duty Ratchet-Lock Utility Knife (L-1)" if you want to look it up. I changed my post to not show the dealer prices so I don't get busted.

The trick is to get the good blades - part name "18mm Heavy-Duty Snap-off Blade, 50-pack (LB-50B)"

I'm not a mechanic, but a machinist and I wish I could find, make, or modify a knife to have one blade of "normal" steel
(1095 would be nice) and one, small blade of very hard steel to deburr and scrape with.

Are there any two bladed, moderately priced folders which would be easy to disassemble and modify (no pins, screws would be better)?

I try and keep stuff off of my belt because i hate getting stuck on car seats or when i need to get on my back. Also, stuff clipped in my pocket like my streamlight pen light or a knife hide away, but also can scratch cars.

I do a lot of mechanical work even though it's not technically my title. My main carries are an Endura 4 and Leatherman Wingman. Occasionally I'll carry my Tenacious, but my other Spydercos don't see much carry at work for whatever reason.

35 years as an A&P mechanic I always liked a Leek and a Severtech. Will do any job. A Leek will cut into wire bundles delicately and the Severtech to cut aluminum.

MAKnives big flipper now, used to edc RJ martin Q36, and Popl tactical flipper so mostly mid/high end custom stuff

deburing, electrical wire stripper, gasket remover, cutting packaging from parts, cutting hoses

mechanic/ service manager here. i carry a spyderco delica 4 ffg. and a 4 sevens quark aa on my person at all times. i have also carried a buck rush with ats 34 steel that i liked alot. my first was the kershaw chive i got off of the snap on truck. and i also have the kershaw multi tool. love how it has vise grip pliers on it.

Most Snap-On dealers are also Kershaw dealers...so many mechanics will be exposed to Kershaw.

I am in shops all the time, and I see everything from Spyderco Militaries, to ESEE Izulas, to case peanuts. It really depends on what the guy or gal likes.

If I had to pick one blade I see more than any other, it would probalby be a Leatherman Multitool.

I work as an emergency roadside mechanic for heavy trucks. I carried the kershaw junk yard dog 2 composite blade for a couple years now. Its well broken in. I doo all the usual cutting, rubber, wire, plastic, and cardboard. I also use the tip to bleed the air/check for pressure on the big diesel fuel systems.
Don't you hate it when your cutting a zip tie and when you break through the edge goes flying into something steel. A thin blade like on my jyd 2 sg2 will sail through zipties with little effort and there fore be controllable and not smash the edge. I'd rather not abuse a thin edge. Alas I've retired my trusty jyd2 cb from pocket duty since the arrival of my ZT 0560. I also carry a backup small knife or fixedblade for when roadservice brings me to NYC. Spyderco dragonfly, snapon kershaw skyline,Snody boss, battle creek bandaid.

The best knife for the shop (for me anyway) is the CRKT razel with the tail clip stays in my pocket doesnt scratch up cars like a normal clip. The chisel tip is great for scraping gaskets. It is cheap and tough as nails!Just noticed this tread is kinda old but if you read this do yourself a favor and get the razel. If buisness is good get one from Graham.
