Hey there,
I'm a bit late to the party I know 😅 I tried all my Google kung fu skills in search of a Emerson Gypsy Jack. Didn't find anything besides the odd custom on Arizona Knives, of course sold out and a lot of Scam Websites.
So I guess I'll have to forget about getting one...
Here's my question: Are there any similar shaped folders out there?
Recommendations would be greatly appreciated, also if by some miracle someone wants to sell his Gypsy Jack please contact me

Cold Steel's Rajah series is available in a couple different sizes, obviously lockbacks but similar overall shape. Knights Element has a similar one although I have no experience with their products. Lastly, Boker also has one in their Magnum (chinese) line, slightly larger and qc might be a little iffy, but hey it cheap..

As someone who owned one, and still remember how mediocre of a knife it was, I can tell you that the Cold Steel Rajahs will come with an edge that is an entire universe better than the Emersons had. The problem you're going to run into in trying to source a Gypsy Jack is pretty much what you've already experienced: collectors sit on those, because it's one of the more oddball designs ole Sir Lord McClownshoes Ernest has done.

I think your describing most of Emersons lineup lol. Don't get me wrong, I've had a cqc-8 and a cqc-7 and they were, well, ok..

Finally sold them after the chisel grind on the cqc7 decided to redirect a cardboard cut directly into my hand. Not to mention the still present 2000's tacticool marketing.

And no offense, I like 154cm, it's a good all-rounder still today, but c'mon Ernie. For $300 bucks on average at least give people and option of something else even its a little upcharge, Magnacut, Cruwear, hell even s45vn, something..

The Emerson Gypsy Jack is a fantastic knife to carry and use. Lots of cutting edge, superb "waving", and slender in the pocket. I had one that Jeff "tough thumbs" pimped and it was the only knife of mine that my wife actually admired. There is a Ernie / Keith Richards back story to that model if I recall correctly.

PS: Quiet, not sure what peeves you about Ernie, but I personally find him to be a person I hold in high esteem.

Found some old pics:

Which is fine. I don’t, in the slightest. Both can be true. And further, the GJ I had came right from them, and the edge was wonky, poor fit and finish (like most of his knives) and was just an odd design. Thankfully, as I stated previously, Emerson collectors will pay out, so I sold it for three times what I’d paid when I liquidated 90% of my Emerson collection. Worked out for everyone!

I wish this knife made the carrracca ratchet sound

As others have suggested, Cold Steel is probably your best bet. The traditional Laguiole knife also looks kind of like a slimmed down version of the Emerson.

I also had the Gypsy Jack itch at one point. I can tell you how I found mine. It was on ebay. I paid like 350 after everything which is a pretty fair price in my opinion. SEARCH EVERYDAY ON EBAY.

That's actually a pretty good idea, they don't seem to have any at the moment but like you said offers change daily.
Thank you very much for the good tip!

Doesn't seem like there is one currently on sale, but members obviously own them according to the pics. Thats the best lead so far😄
Bladeforums always delivers, I didn't even think of reactivating my dusty old Facebook account to take a look there 😅
