There are a lot of knives out there and a lot of conflicting tastes - and a lot of quality knives that are just one aspect away from being super awesome. Here are a couple that I would like to see off of the top of my head:

- Spyderco Szabo: Wave feature. I'm sure there's some collaboration and licensing issue here, but, COME ON IT WOULD BE PERFECT
- Spyderco PM2: Bearing pivot. With all of the play and inconsistent pivot action issues these are known to have, this would resolve both!
- Kershaw-Emersons in general: XL sizes! My 4KXL is one of my all-time favorite folders. I'd love a tanto and Persian blade as well in that size!
- Kershaw Thermite: Manual version! Or at least a detent...!
- Cold Steel Tuff Lite: XHP Steel and/or repositionable clip.
- Cold Steel Voyager: SMOOTH SCALES. That grip pattern is also pants-fabric-sandpaper.
- Benchmade Adamas: Thinner handle. Am I holding a folding knife or a 2x4? Yeesh.
- Gerber Autos in general: PLAIN EDGES. Not everything has to be combo edge.

What knives can you think of that are just one aspect away from amazingness?

I LOVE my ZT 0566 except for that thick steel frame lock side. I find the plain steel to be much too slick for my hands and find the frame lock too tight to disengage with any kind of regularity. I know that this will come with some controversy but if that knife had g10 on both sides and a liner instead of frame lock it would be perfect for me.

Kershaw Emersons.....Make them in the US and make them with 14c28n. They're Emerson colabs for goodness sake.....a proud American made knife company. Do the colabs justice and make them in the US.

Bigger would be better as well. Something CQC-15 sized :)

I wish that Sooo many knives weren't partially serrated, especially my well used SOG Seal Team. I have lots of more expensive, fancy, and "better" fixed blades from more reputable companies but I still use this knife possibly the most. It would be perfect if not for the serrations.

I can only agree strongly on all counts. It always struck me as odd that the Kershaw Emerson collabs were imports...

Many knives would be awesome with the AXIS lock... Benchmade needs to start licensing.

CRKT Eros: tip-up carry pocket clip. It's not just that it looks better and carries better; it completely eliminates the "hot spot" nature of the stock clip.

Ah, I haven't seen people post about this knife as much as they used to. Or rather, the Seal Pup. Really nice at their price point, I'm surprised more people don't recommend them.

Anyway, I believe the Seal Pup Elite has a plain edged version, no?

Most every Cold Steel: a proper pocket clip.
Sebenza: flipper, wave or assisted opening.

I love my busse knife, but both came with subpar edge angles. The tip has inconsistent angles. But once fixed, awesome blade and steel.
and the plastic fishnet sheath scratches the blade (satin).

Sebenza 25, wish the stop pin didn't need adjusting or locktite. Otherwise a fine knife.

That's a grand idea!

I would love an Emerson with an AXIS lock!

If the CQC 7 had just bit more inward curve in the front of the handle (like the HD-7) it would be perfect.

Benchmade Bedlam if it came in medium and/or small size package. A 3.5''ish and a 3'' model respectively would get my money. I'd buy both.

Yes, yes, yes. A Sebenza with a flipper, most definitely.

I also agree with the idea of USA made Kershaw Emerson collaborations. If Kershaw can make a fantastic American-made budget folder like the Link, they could easily do it with the Emersons.

Frankly, I'd like to see less Chinese made knives, regardless of brand name. I know there's a market for affordable knives, but the Taiwanese can produce way better fit/finish and overall quality than mainland China.

off the top of my head-
ZT 0561- blade could be a little thinner right behind the edge
Spyderco Bradley Folder- I would like a little bit of cutout for access to the liner lock
Benchmade 710- no recurve please (my old AFCK is similar in size with no recurve)
Becker BK11/BK14- I would like a little bit more point on the blade
Spyderco Manix 2- I would like a little bit lighter spring in the lock, just a little bit

The Al Mar SERE 2000 folder comes to mind...wish that blade was between 3.75 and 4".

Kershaw thermite- holy $h@! Manual with a DETENT!!! And better steel. S30v thermite would be awesome or at least sandvik. Keshaw needs to stop using 8cr13mov. It's not bad but it ruins good knives like the thermite.

I would buy a SOG Pentagon in a heartbeat if it had two plain edges instead of that serrated edge. Funny thing is, SOG sells a version of the Pentagon in Russia with no serrations. What gives SOG? Why do the Russians get such special treatment.

And I agree with ECHoil about the Al Mar SERE. I'd love to have one with a 4" blade. Although I do like the SERE that I have.

Spyderco Delica: A finger choil. The way the handle just awkwardly terminates like that... it even looks weird closed!

Spyderco Military: A reversible pocket clip. Yeah, okay, if I'm carrying it on load-bearing equipment it doesn't matter, but I carry my folding knives in my pocket.

Leatherman Wave: An awl. I don't need an eyeglass screwdriver on my full-size multi-tool, and I wear glasses. On the other hand, they've given me two blades, a file, and a saw, but nothing to punch/ream/drill with.
