Knives that look better with scratches

CRKs look great with some wear on them. I have gotten two user used knives recently that were fairly scratched up. One of them was a dream knife of mine, an Emerson HD7. I gotta get the serrations sharpened. It also has almost no detent because the hole on the blade the detent is supposed to sit in is for some reason so shallow as to be non existant. Might have to fix that myself.

I may be the only one, but I don't really like the looks of blade scratches.
I use my knives and they get scratches, but a scratched up stainless blade isn't something I find to look " good " in any way.
I don't mind the look of worn off blade coatings though.

Now a well patina'd carbon steel blade is a thing of beauty, and I love how it disguises scratches.

I agree that scratches on a stainless blade don't look good and try to avoid that. This Benchmade 755 had these scratches on the blade when I got it. I just have to wonder what was cut with it to cause scratches like that.

These two Benchmades are well-worn and I think they look pretty good. Someone removed the coating from the 275 main bevel and swedge. Its handle (original black G10 painted tan) was beaten up too but Benchmade replaced it with the dyed tan G10 under warranty.

I think someone else may have said it, but I've always liked the look of beaten up coated knives. Scuffed and scratched to hell DLC/Cerakoted blades makes for a great look.

I'd take a picture of my old machete but I'm pretty sure you'd think it was more patina than steel, haha.

MACHETES!! Choppers and my slimline machetes! Protech knives, benchmades. I have to agree about the Busse knives. Traditional folders(wear, tear, and patina at least)

I think well worn is going to look great to the owner, but maybe not to a buyer or someone else. I love my well worn knives-each scratch and mar is a bit of history
to be more specific-Sebenza handles look great with scratches and wear. Usually their blades hide the wear since they are stonewashed(which is just a bunch of scratches anyway)

Yeah, on the picture I posted above of the worn HD7 highlights the great look worn coated blades take on. I love how the wear seems to centre at the places where the angle changes due to the grind. It sort of outlines the grind lines.

If this knife still looks like this in a few months, would someone please track me down and slap me in the head?:D

Not that “relicing” is cool and I want it to look mangled, but I bought this knife to be used and I can’t wait to start using it to process kindling and other chores around camp.
