Knives that look better with scratches

Sees mostly home and camp kitchen duty.

I have heard of some folding knives sold as "pocket worn". Perhaps some company could sell prescratched or predinged knives. Some jeans are sold with pretorn knees at premium prices.o_O:)

No joke, it was a HUGE thing with guitars for the last decade or so. “Relic” or “road worn”.

Pretty funny actually unless you are Keith Richards or Jimmy Page and don’t want to tour with your $1M+ 50’s originals.

My cavalry sabers and lance heads show marks from handling, cutting, and (on the blunts) sparring. I especially like how my repro 1728 Spanish cavalry sword looks after years of cutting from the saddle and against targets.

My user knives (which are all but three, I think) all show signs of use: Cutting, some light batonning, some chopping, and on the handles and scales, signs of being worn around the farm, on trails, in camp, and in town. Not abuse, but they are used, for sure. Once again, it's the Velveteen Rabbit effect.

What gets me scratching my head is where the dings in the brass bolsters of my 110 and 112 come from. I've never hammered with them, never dropped them on hard surfaces, and only occasionally will I carry them in a pocket. Yet they both look dinged up! Oh, well. Honest use and honest scars: The barnacles of life.

I prefer scuffs over scratches. I like a knife that looks used, but for some reason scratches bug me.

Not exactly scratches but how about some well earned patina on this case!?!?

Also Im including my manix, but that spyderco coating is TOUGH not very many scratches but it is scuffed a little. (it has epoxy all over it in this picture)

I like Chris Reeve stuff with wear on the Ti.
They wear it well :D
It can be difficult to capture fully in photos though.

Sir please delete these pictures, you are making want to drop $400 on a CRK instead of that suppressor and tax stamp I was wanting...

I could do that, or...

That's cold, JD, just cold.

I have to agree with you and @Lapedog on not being very keen on blade scratches. I bought a couple CRK users that had scratched-up blades, though, and put them right to work. I gave the StarTac to my son and kept the 21 Large Insingo Micarta. My most oft-carried work knife is my KA Large 21 and I've put all the wear on that baby myself. It's got a couple blade scratches, but it's hard to get them to show in pics. The ti slab shows all the use, though, and I do love how well-worn it is.

Randalls are made to be used and I wonder what percentage of them ever get to leave the house. I've had this one for less than a year. It already showed some wear and I added more by carrying it every day I hunted.
