Knives You Like Enough to Own Spares?

Sheesh, I have "spares" or duplicates (or triplicates, quadruplicates or whatever :D ) of most knives I own, from el cheapo Moras to customs made to my specs. It's just plain handy to have more than one. And it's also killing my wallet, but then again, you can't take it with you... :D

I don't have duplicates of any knife. But I have knives I'd immediately replace should I lose/break the one I have. Chopweiler and Koster Nessmuk are the only two that fit in that category so far.

I have 4 sak Farmers since they are so handy and inexpensive, there's no excuse not to.

Of what I own right now: F1, Bravo-1, Delica, HI WWII (maybe 18" instead of another 16" though) - no money for spares yet, but they're on the list :)

I do have several sak classics...they're everywhere actually.....hmm.

I have at least two of every SAK I own (122 last count), several of Scott Gossman's PSKjr's and PSKsr's, working on a second of his WTK, two RAT RC-3's, two TAK-1's. I think that is all the doubles I own.....

Too many knives ... can't keep track ... got 3 Buck 110 and 2 Spyderco Chinook 3.
How could I forget to list dupes of knives I carry? :)

List the knives I would like two of? Should I list all of them, or just the first 100 or so?

4 Victorinox Huntsmans.
2 Victorinox Pioneer/Soldiers (and A Wenger Soldier),3 Vic Spartans, 2 Vic Recruits, 2 Vic Alox Lumberjacks.
3 Vic Compacts, 2 Vic Classics (had more gave them away).
6 Leatherman Micras (4 good, 2 for parts)
2 Old Imperial Carbon steel Stockman's (R.I).
A few (mostly Irish) Imperial Peanuts,Stockmans, Camp King/Scout style knives.
3 Buck 110's (1 modded/1 stock/1 stock finger grooved).
2 Gerber Clutchs.
2 Western W49 Bowies (1 stock/1 heavily modded)
2 Benchmark "Ninja" throwing knives.
2 Cold Steel Tru-balance throwing knives.

(A lot of time when you collect SAK's you end up buying them used in lots on Ebay and end up with duplicates)

The most often used in the above list are the Vic Huntsmans/Compacts, Leatherman Micras,Buck 110's.

I use Moras a lot and have 5 or so but they are all different models.

Knives i like enough to want to buy duplicates of would be- Spyderco Tenacious, Enzo Trapper, (little/tiny import model) Buck Trapper and more Moras of course, lol.
Corrections those are knives i like enough and can possibly afford to buy duplicates of!
(Pipe dream knives are another list entirely)

Really just the Vic Farmer, but that's more so that I always have one around if I want to carry one (and I always do).

Like other posters, numerous Opinels & Moras for me.
In addition, I regularly carry one of these SAKs:

Two that see heavy use are my pair of MOD blades.

Good thread.
For me its' the Sebenzas / SAKs / Busse

They are not all the same specific models, but close enough to be a true back up in case one goes MIA.

The Sebs get the most day to day use.

Well, I like Busses, but I'm not as rich as some who do, so no spares there. As others have said, spares mean fewer different knives so, as much as I would like some, in the main I don't.

However...

The only knives I do have spares of are SAK's 'cos they're cheap and good. I like to keep them stuffed in all sorts of places(!) just in case.

Hey Jeroboam, nice wood on those SAK's, especially the top one. I've done a couple myself but not as fancy as that.

I have 2 bark River Northstars and 3 HI Ganga Ram Specials.

PS Wait till the Busse Guys show up. From what I've seen they have great collections of spares!

Spares???

Put a few, certain Busse Guys' collections together and they could equip half of W&SS! Not that I'm jealous...

The only spare I have is a pair of Ontario Rat-3 knives in D2. One is used as-is and the other I stripped and polished up. I'm considering convexing the edge of the stripped one to see the difference for myself. I've also played around with vinegar and mustard treatments that I've never been completely happy with. Good thing it only takes a short time with 600 grit paper to remove all traces.

The only reason I have two is because I got them for a price too good to pass up. Nice, stout little knives.

I am currently stockpiling 80's-90's Bucklite BLACK folding knives
It all stared with a 422 I got in high school....
