Knives you never thought you'd own?

I never thought I'd own a Buck 124, mostly because I'm not a fan of big knives. I found a beater at a gun show for $50, and it came home with me. I was going to send it in for a spa treatment at Buck, but it cleaned up nicely. Mostly a safe queen as I prefer carrying smaller knives.

Taiwanese spyderco. Picked up a Gayle Bradley and could not be happier! F&F is perfect.

I didnt think i would ever go over $200...i came pretty close to that when i ordered a CQC-8 last year, and then it just went up from there, ive owned a few CRKs a Strider, a crap load of spydercos, and my latest is a GPS TNK Sm JYD which i love...im looking only at higher end knives currently:D

Never thought I'd own a gold class Griptilian #25. Then again I never thought I'd own a replica Hitler Youth short sword, but dad likes to give strange gifts.

I still remember stretching to afford a $25 scrimshawed Frost Cutlery CoonSkinner knife when I was in high school. That was a LOT of money!

After graduating college, I bought myself a  $100 folder from A. G. Russell!

I had to trade 3 knives for my first Microtech, an LCC/DA ($250). Never would have imagined...

My first William Henry knife took me over the $500 limit. (took a year to save up)

Now, I'm contemplating a knife by Gustavo Cecchini(sp?) for a minimum of $800.

:D I got mine last year. I got a Sheffield military knife with the fiber resin handle. Never thought I would get one, because they are either too expensive or located out of country. Got mine from Canada and it took a month to get it. It took so long that the store owner sent me a Sheffield military pocket knife.:D

+1 I'll second that.Also,didn't think I'd ever get a CRK,or a DDR.Not that I didn't likem',hell I loved them.I just didn't think I'd ever spend $400+ on a knife.Now I'm looking at $600+ knives.:o

I hear ya buddy. I had an Umnumzaan many years ago, I ended up selling it and the rest of my knives at the time. I only kept a Military and a SE Delica. I sold my small collection of around 25 knive, out of necessity to fund new tires on my car, and some engine work.

I have my eye on the Trigger Maze, the AXD is nice too. I want to get a couple others I cannot think of too.

When I was a teenager Timberline fixed blades were really hot. At the time I could not afford one, then the company was sold and slowly became what it is today (no comment).
I was really delighted when I found out that Vaughn Neeley, one of the original founders, was re-creating those original designs in his shop. This one is my favorite, the SG, only took me twenty some years to get one.:D

Never thought I'd own a titanium knife from Mission. Didn't really need one, and the price was prohibitive.

Then one day I got a real good deal at a knife show. So now I can say I have a titanium knife. I am like totally a Navy SEAL Operator and stuff!

I considered a Case slipjoint an expensive knife for years. I still don't consider them "cheap". When I finally got my first Case Barlow as a kid (probably 10ish), my world changed. I owed a knife as good as Dad's!

I never noticed custom knives or even realized that they were hand made. I remember Bill Moran's ads in gun magazines or at least a mention in Gun Digest year after year. Loveless.... same deal.

Saw my first "expensive" knives in the early 80's. My future brother in law owned a couple Randall knives, some others, and a Bill Moran blade. I knew the Randall's were "expensive" and had no idea or conception of the value of a Moran blade.

Got my first custom knife in 1987. Traded a Mossberg 22 mag rifle for a knife at a gun show. Had no idea of the quality or who the maker was/is at that time. Bought a few Randall blades over the next couple of years at gunshows. They were commonly available then for full retail price or slightly less. Those days are over. Hit my first Blade Show in 1992 or there abouts. Visited one of the annual shows in Knoxville TN prior to their moving it to Atlanta.

I still will not pay $1,000 for a custom blade. Maybe when I win the lottery.

The Izula. Never thought I'd get into fixed blades. Only one I own (unless you count
the Hide Away Knife). It's great.

After that the basilisk balisong by Jerry Hom. Not cause I didn't want it, but cause they
are so tough to find.

Umfaan due to the aftermarket price, but I finally save up and got a Pheasant Tail off ebay. Now I want a plain too...

I never thought I'd carry a Cold Steel (now the Rajah's are EDC's), never thought a knife with a 1/2" spine could be a great camp knife (AK and Chunk Munk) and never gave a second thought to the Busse hype machine until the fine folks at Scrapyard started making Dogfathers and Regulators, consider me a scrapyard flavored koolaid lover now.

I owned a strider XL SNG at one point, Never thought I'd go higher than an SMF. Unfortunately, I don't keep knives long.

Kershaw NRGII. I not a big fan of liner lock knives (I am a lefty). But when I saw it being sold for $35 CDN, I took the plunge. It is not part of my EDC rotation, but I carry it around the house.

A dollar tree Swiss knock off.It has a very thin blade. It would not be one to cry over if you lost it.

I never thought I'd be fascinated with fixed blades. I have a Buck 119 that I've used for hunting for over 20 years, never thinking about it. I started out getting some nice folders when I got into knives. Now, they kind of bore me. I am totally enamored with utility fixed blades from Bark River, Fallkniven and ESEE. My favorite is the Fiddleback Forge production Recluse from Bark River. All I can say is wow.
