Knives you never thought you'd own?

A Benchmade 806BK-901 AFCK CPM-M4.
I use to have an 806 D2, and it was a great knife, but someone offered a trade I said "yes" to. I miss that 806 D2; anyways when they announced an 806 M4, I emailed my local dealer--too late! Plain edges were spoken for, had 2 combo edges available. I wanted plain edge. So I figured I'd never see it. I was talking to a buddy, whining about missing my 806D2, and not able to get a M4 one, and he mentioned he had a M4 one, if I was interested. YOU BET!! Now I have it as one of my daily carry knives. I retired my Chinook3 for the 806M4(and I really liked my Chinook 3, my son has it now).

It isn't so much what I thought I would have or wouldn't. (Likely won't go above the Sebenza range, because the wife knows how to use a knife and I might just wake up minus a bodypart or two!) It was more that I would have a knife based birthday party. Wife and friends took me out last April and gave me a Griptilian, American Lawman, and a Leatherman Wave...to go along with a streamlight strion and stylus pro. I said thanks....and then asked when I should be expecting the zombie piloted black helicopters because I thought they were trying to tell me something!

I recently purchased a Small Mayo Wharnie, which I never imagined I would own so soon.

Should arrive friday or monday!!!

I never thought I'd own any of the knives I have... I used to get $10 S&Ws, and when I started researching knives, I found Spydercos and Benchmades and the like. $60 for a knife?! LOL I'll never pay that!

ZT 0301. I first thought it was a ridiculously overbuilt design, but after running into kershawguy's sales, I felt that it was too good a deal to pass up compared to what they usually go for. And I grew to like it. But I would never have acquired one if paying MAP was the only option out there.

A Microtech Makora II. I thought OTF's were gimmicks at first, but felt that I was somewhat obliged to have something unique in my collection. Even though I wasn't fond of Microtech's reputation, there weren't really any other designs/makers that I was interested in.

One like this I saw on Barry Dawson's table back in the 90's at the BACKA and Bob Engnath was almost right next to him against the wall...after I got home from the Army in 91 I was working 7 days a week for $5.oo back then and I did that for 2 years but I only had enough for gas and money to pay Bob for a bunch of his Yakiba blades I custom ordered that I still have....It would be a bunch of years later when I could talk to Barry and ask if he would make one for me, given the way my life has turned there is no way I could ever think to own one today...the other was Bob Engnath's Texas Camp knife and that one is still missing...
