I was talking to a friend about this particular subject last night. It made me realize that I've had some kickin' knives that I wish I still had. They are:

An old Gryphon M35

An older Blackjack AWAC (subdued version)

Benchmade Monolock

Fehrman Final Judgement (which I HAD to sell for financial reasons...HUGE mistake)

Kershaw Random Leek (I LOVED this knife, but somehow lost it while on a date)

(Editing to add another one I just remembered)

Cold Steel Recon Tanto (I sold it for the stupid reason that it wasn't sharp enough, and I sucked at sharpening. Keep in mind that this was many years ago. Now that I can sharpen blades quite well and have some excellent sharpening products...instead of the 5 dollar stone from Ace Hardware I had back then... I wish I had it back!)

My Japanese Army Knife from when I was a kid. Man that thing even had a spoon and a fork. Too bad I let it rust. Bummer;)

No, I can't say I regret trading or selling any of the knives that I have done that with.

Lost a Benchmade CQC-7 about 5 years ago. Miss that knife. It was my first tactical knife, my first tanto pointed blade, and my first serious knife over $100. (come to think of it's my only knife I've paid over $100 for)

CRKT S-2. Great, great knife .... I had to trade it due to unexpected circumstances, and it didn't really do anything my Endura didn't do, but ... *sigh*

My Gerber Mark-II was stolen by some movers several years back. Not that it was the most "useful" knife in the world, but I did like it all the same. And now of course you can't buy them any more.

I've lost several knives. The one I miss most was this:
Some 30 years ago I lost a Swedish "barrel knife". I'd had it for about 10 years. It was a traditional Swedish fisherman's knife. When folded up, all you saw was the rounded wooden handle. It looked sort of like a barrel. . The blade was a separate piece that pulled out, unfolded, then was inserted back in the handle so that the blade was exposed. Impossible to close on your fingers. Sweet little thing. Haven't seen one offered for sale in years. I lost it during a move. It just never appeared when I opened all the boxes.

Had to sell a Firetac a while back to cover a financial shortfall. Wish it hadn't come to that because it was a great knife, but there's always something else around the next bend.

I regret selling my Hill Knives SOK (Special Operations Knife) that was made for the Dutch commandos and my Strider SMF recurve.:grumpy:

Once a long while ago, a friend gave me a complete set of damacus folders, first run off production line at Bear Cutlery in Jacksonville AL . They were given to him (owner of knife business) to induce him to handle their knives. He gladly accepted, then later gave them to me as a present. I have to admit, I gave them away in a moment of stoopid to a friend whose son was just starting to collect knives. They moved to another city and I have not seen them since. :grumpy:

I regret giving my brother my olde gerber EZ out. Yes, I know it may not be as kick ass some as some of the other knives here but it held some real sentimental value for me.

I regret selling an Al Mar specwar a few years back.

I also regret chopping down and original m1 Garand bayonet when I was a teenager. It was the long blade that seems to be in demand for collectors now.

I don't regret giving away any.but I regret trading away these spyderco's toad, J D Smith ,mouse, blue delica massad ayoob. benchmade's 705-401 705-03.
thats all I can think of I'm sure there's more though.

"Accidently" sold a Gen 1 TAD/Elishewitz Dauntless and a Brian Tighe My Tighe long ago but I replaced them with these: (Same knife models but got a different number on the Elishewitz and the "Holey" CF instead of regular on the Tighe)

Won't be selling them again. (Unless I really need money anyway.:o )

I sold a Rob Simonich Bowie (prototype) a few years back. It was 1 of 3. I will never forgive myself for that one. 7 inches of razor sharp A2 with a camo kydex sheath. I miss that one!

This is one of those kick yourself threads ; i hate thinking of them, but a camillus talonite maxx from ag russell, a prototype bm 750 with grooved handles i got from a former designer at benchmade, gerber bmf, gerber mkII,guardian II, a sterile recon scout from the gulf war era,& a early flat black finished cs srk before they went to the krinkle finish.......

I had the local constabulary "confiscate" my Emerson CQC-7 and my Spyderco Manix from my checked baggage at the airport (it seems someone on the oversize baggage scanner didn't like the fact that I had so many knives in my bags). They were taken on the basis of being illegal "flick knives" here in Canada. The CQC-7 was fun and tactical, but the Manix was in my pocket on an almost daily basis, and I miss it most of all. :(

You made me think of what happened to my brother's Japanesse Sword, I will try to make this short. He was stationed in Japan at a Naval Base, in charge of some 50 to 75 Japanesse civilians working for the Navy around 1959. He really made some good friends over the course of his tour. When it was time for him to go home, the civilians got together and purchased a sword for him with a documented history of over 1300 yrs. It belonged to some famous warload. When the Japanesse government found out the sword was leaving the country, they rushed up a session of government to have it declared a National Treasure and stop my brother from taking it home. By the time the measure passed my brother was in flight on a military plane home. He kept it for many years, I got to feel the razor sharp edge and really admired the craftsmanship that took place so many years ago. Several years before my brothers death, he decided to donate the sword to the Japanesse exhibt at the Birminham Museum, he wanted the Japanesse community in Birmingham to be able to see a real item of history. Several years after his passing, his son wanted to see the sword again. Guess What, the Museum had no records of it ever being donated, much less what happened to it after they took possession. I suspect some curator made a bundle, either selling it back to a Japanesse Museum or a private collector. Anyway, I wish I had the names of the 1300 years worth of owners, but that material went with the sword. Attempts to trace have been futile to my nephew. I wish my brother had given it to me, but he needed the tax deduction at the time. :barf: :barf:
