Knives you want but can't obtain.

Demko AD20 and Carothers DEK1. I like having something difficult to obtain. When I don’t, my interest in knives begins to stagnate.

King Tut's knife, made with some meteorite too. I think that is the one.
Meteorite Tut dagger was probably functional , but less shiny . Here it is :

By the way , at that time in history, iron would have been worth more than it's weight in gold .

Huh...never noticed the dropped edge design with finger choils for fine work;)

Well, there was this pair of Bagwell Bowies at Blade Runner in Tucson a few years ago, but I couldn't afford the divorce if I'd bought them:D.

I always forget about Busse because, well, prices...

So do I. The chunk of money required to purchase one of those (and while iconic, is nowhere near the price and cult of pretier models) would buy two or three other capable knives.

Well, some of it is the name, but not as much as some other knives. Partly you're paying for the 3+3 heat treat cycle, which is more expensive than the usual soak/quench/temper. You're also paying for what I understand is a pretty phenomenal warranty.

If I'm being honest, every time I look at a Busse, I start looking at the things I would change about the design. Then, I remember my angle grinder. Then, I head off and start pricing pieces of precision ground 52100.....

Not many I really long for anymore. Blued SK5 SOG bowie. In NIB condition. When they came out I had a wife and kid and not enough extra money to buy a knife for what they were asking. Now I wouldn't want to pay what I would have to pay for a NIB one at going rates. I have a bunch of knives that will outperform it already so that is another mental hurdle.

Hattori also released a small run of bowies in YHB steel but they were sold out before I even heard of them.

:)

Anything that Jerry Fisk finishes up will be fine.

I want to find a Benchmade Mini AFCK that doesn't have serrations. Liner lock, round (not oval) hole.

And an old school Camillus CUDA EDC.

This too shall pass, it just takes awhile to come back, like a hiatus after enjoying some good knives. It sneaks back in the the most subtle way. :p

This. I lost interest in modern knives, only to start collecting electrician knives. Once I got a good Camillus, that went away. Then I got interested in modern traditionals. I know what Mr. Sabbagh is talking about with GEC.....
