Knives You Won’t Sell

As mentioned in another thread I am selling off many of the knives I’ve had for 10, 15 and 20+ years, not wanting to leave the task of sell to my wife who has no understanding of value.

That said there remain some knives that I wouldn’t sell. These are knives that have been well used over the years (carry and/or cutting) and have a special history with me.

Spyderco Yojimbo 1 (blue) purchase from Michael Janich directly at my first Martial Blade Camp in 2005. My EDC for many years and used for numerous cutting chores.

Benchmade Mini-Presidio I’ve had for 15 years, carried and used for various cutting chores. Beautiful design and love the Axis lock.

Spyderco Native Slip-it was purchase as a deep concealment knife when NYC considered any folding knife with a lock a prohibited gravity knife. This made a generic Delica a prohibited gravity knife.

I also was reminded my daughter that there is a group of knives in boxes in a dresser at my son’s house. I’ll have to get her to describe them to me so I’ll know what “treasures” I left behind on Long Island. I’m guessing some Delica’s and Endura’s.

What knives do you have that you won’t sell under any circumstances and why?

My Emersons. Because.
My current Bugout. Only thing original on it by now is the blade. It is a custom build by me.
I would sell pretty much anything else I own if the price is right and if it's something I regret selling i would buy another one.

I can't 100% promise that under no circumstances would I sell it, but I do like this knife. My wife bought it as a gift for me. It may not be a super expensive knife, but it has been discontinued for some years, and this one is in fantastic, pretty much like new shape. I think I have used it for some very light cutting a few times. Cold Steel Colossus I. It has CTS-XHP steel, which is pretty decent. The lanyard has a glow fob and metal skull bead. The only issue they have is that the thumb plate can work loose. Get some loctite, and problem solved.

I have several that I have no intentions of selling, but if the circumstances were such there are only a handful that were gifts or belonged to someone special to me that I absolutely would not sell.

I will not sell any of my knives.

I will gift some to others on occasion.

[I can't let a friend have a lousy knife!]

Knives that have CQ issues are the exception. They become hard use knives.

I will not pass judgment upon anyone who sells their knives. I don't have the right to tell them how to manage their hobby.

I usually don't sell any......Injuries forced me to sell afew.gems....LCC, SF & makora II Microtech's......D\A auto conversion subhilt spydie....😭........

Won't sell any unless forced too...😉..............

I revel in the fact my kids will bless me.one way.or another when they want.to get rid of some😜 long after I'm worm turds....

I have a unique CRK that was born on my daughter's first birthday that I already showed her and promised her it will be hers. That one ain't going anywhere. I have a few discontinued ZTs that will be sticking around unless I'm in dire straights and large SHF or 5 😂 that would be the last things I'd sell. Oh I also wouldn't get rid of my LG VECP or Servo unless it was to put food on the table.

I own too many at this point, but I could see saying there are different categories of folding knives I would not sell or give away, all time favorites, nostalgic ones, practical edc ones.
So for this post here are these three favorites I will never part with

All but a few I either am not willing to part with or have been used and sharpened to the extent of not being worth much.

The two I will never part with, no matter what, are my RH Knives Tasca 2 and my Bailey Model 2 flipper geek edition. The Bsiley was a gift from my mother. While in the hospital, it was the last thing I had looked at on my phone before falling unconscious for a week back in 2016. I'll never forget that gift.

The Tasca 2 is such a phenomenal knife I wish I had the funds to buy a second one that isn't Damascus for heavier use.
