Knives You Won’t Sell

The day I heard my brother died of an accidental overdose of fentanyl I was rolling into work. Broke my heart and I had to take a two hour walk and have a good cry. Later that day I gave a shot for a SDFK on a Friday sale. Got one, best part is the last words I told him were I love you brother and he help d get me into knives, won’t be sold on my watch and I plan on beating it up and sending it down a generation. Didn’t mean to go TMI but that is the one knife I won’t sell
You and I have similar stories. Lost my older brother to morphine. He, too got me into knives and I have his collection. I've sold some, but he was a turner, himself. What I have left of his will stay mine. Two dot 110, early Dawsons, and some others.

I made this for Dad almost ten years ago. Long before I knew what I was doing.

Blade is the ground and hardened Premium Knife Supply “Big Game Hunter” kit blank, which, I discovered later, they actually ripped off from a Bill Siegle Bill Siegle design.

Handle is padauk, which I can no longer import (thanks CITES).

Sheath is .06” Kydex which I no longer use (.08” Boltaron and Holstex now).

I miss Dad. He called it the Grizzly Paw.

I collect knives . . . mostly Kabar, SOG, OKC, and Buck knives. The jewel of my collection is a stainless Next Generation tanto knife made by Kabar (#1270) that has been discontinued.

I do struggle with computer stuff, so how do I place a photo in here from my phone?
I’m new to the forum, so I’m searching for the same answer. But, since you’re on the 1270 subject, I also have one of these. And I’m puzzled- is the steel 440A or 12C27? I believe the Sandvic steel, but not 100% sure. I know some later NGens were 440A after the 12C27 got pricey, but I believe the 1270 tanto (not popular enough at the time) remained 12C27 until discontinued. Just not sure

Looking back at this thread, I still have a bunch more I would not sell and I totally get not selling off the ones that have a special meaning. On the other hand I have little issue selling the ones where I have lost interest in or others really want because they no longer can find them. Honestly I enjoy making someone happy by selling them something that spreads the joy of this obsession.

Purchased and put away NIB for the boy...HALOs are untouchables always, along with perfectly centered DOC and a murked LUDT.

Rest of the knives are users, over time....already thinned to keepers - maybe with one more slight ebb in size

I've had this knife for a while. It's a custom Fairbairn-Sykes dagger by a now defunct company called ESA Swords/Gung Ho! Knives. They had several custom options, including several colors of ceramic finishes for the blade, handle and pommel. I chose an olive green handle and the other parts in standard black.

The handle crossed section had options for either the standard round, slightly oval and round with a thumb indent on the side. I chose the slightly oval. You could have the pommel with the standard pommel nut or custom skull crusher, and of course I chose the latter.
The sheath is the only thing that kind of sucks. It's a black nylon sheath with a kydex liner. Looks awful. Will probably get a kydex or leather sheath eventually.

A Ka-Bar I've had for like 30 years and has been around the world with me.The small piece of leather glued to the sheath was a quick and dirty fix for the tip of the knife having cut through the sheath. There is also a piece on the retention strap as that stretched out and didn't hold the knife well. It got soaked in the rain in TN/KY, FL, and WA more than a few times. I painted the blade at some point. Probably after I retired from the military. Either Aluminahyde II from Brownells, or one of the VHT epoxy based paint, their chassis and roll cage paint or the all weather epoxy that I use on parts of some of my rifles too.

A Randall 14 that was a gift.

My old Benchmade 710.
Probably my Spartan Harsey Difensa just because I love this knife.
And a Leeper knife that was a gift from the dude who helped design it.
