Knives you would never buy again!

Any US and most European brands (Boker for example) at the lower to middle price spectrum.

Reason: at the low end Opinel, Victorinox and cheap Chinese knives (Ganzo, SRM) trash everything in value (and often performance). No reason to buy Kershaw, CRKT, Gerber, SOG, Spyderco China line, etc. when they are the same thing (often inferior) for 3 times the money.

At the middle spectrum (Spyderco, Benchmade etc.) mid priced China knives are better value for money. I could be tempted by a Mcusta though, on looks alone.

Benchmade 940. I wanted to like it but something about it I can't stand. It's just taking up space in my knife drawer now.

This. Every time I examine the build quality of my Ganzo, Sanrenmu or Enlan knives, I once again am surprised at how little they cost me.

Marfione hand ground tanto. The pronounced "yakote" makes sharpening difficult and creates unnecessary drag when cutting.

That too: any tantos, recurves, oddly shaped blades - anything that's more trouble than its worth in the sharpening department I won't even look at anymore. I buy knives to cut things, not slay ogres.

Boker folders. Their fixed blades have been nothing but awesome for me, but the 3 folders I've had from them left me unhappy.

i'm a little surprised about the buck. mine has been rock solid and came perfectly centered and has stayed that way.

I ve had two Vantage Pro s. Both were off center with the blades and when adjusted, did not stay centered .The didn't t rub, so this was no big deal.
The first had a solid lockup and has remained that way. The second has back and forth blade play that I really don t know how to correct. I may try dissaembly and reassembly and see if that corrects the problem.
Like the knives, but the f and f is a little deficient.

Becker BK9, reason.. just never used it, it's too big for anything practical imo and I don't really do that much (any) bush crafting, also I realized that I hate the aesthetic of a chubby blade shape even though there's a small clip; there's just something about it.. I thought of putting it to use as a chefs knife but it's D2 and not very corrosion resistant afaik so a dud for me.

I can't narrow it down to specifics, but I would probably not buy 90% of the knives I own again, just because I have too many and have lost the collecting bug and now just care about having a relatively smaller number of users. Nothing wrong in particular with any individual knife, just too many of them. So if you took them all away and give me back all of the original money I spent on them, I would probably re-buy about 6 to 10 of the same ones and be done with it.

Medford Micro Praetorian

Reason: Too thick to be a slicer, too small to be a chopper. Doesn't carry well and build quality was not up to par for the cost. Would not recommend or buy again.

It kind of depends when you got them. I, too, had trouble with a 342 Pro that couldn't even be corrected, although a Select 340 purchased around the same time was just about perfect. Buck sent me a 347 in an even exchange with the unfixable 342, and it was okay. Since then, I think the kinks have been worked out in Idaho. But I would still check them out before purchase in a shop, even for the few dollars more it would cost compared to on line. That's how I found a perfect 345 Select, my favorite user.

That's not a bad assessment of where I have figured out I am at right now.

I'm similar. But, right now if I had 6 to 10, I would still be looking and buying. Some people seem to shift to the suppose higher quality knives as time goes on, I did. But now I seem to be more interested in the lesser priced knives. I would love to have a custom slip joint made for me, but I suspect it wouldn't get used anyway and it would be money poured down a hole.
