I like knives... I like them to be sharp, pointy, and sturdy. I like them in a lot of flavors to include fixed blade, bali-song, and folding. They are called knives but remain as tools. It all depends on the needs and what one wants to accomplish. They can be wonderful tools when used and maintained properly. I will not call them weapons because I consider all objects that are used to be tools, until they are used as weapons. These tools can be used for so many things that it will be impossible for me to mention. Some common things I can think of are as follows. Opening mail, cutting boxes, cutting rope, slicing food, splitting wood, cutting zip ties, cutting where scissors can not, skinning animals, cleaning game, making stakes, knotching wood, and above all else, SURVIVING. Whether the elements, or adversary, it doesn't matter. A knife can not only help you survive, but it can help you do it well.

There is no perfect tool for every job and it all depends on what you have, and what you can have at any given time. Personal preferance, and limitations of an environment (rural or urban) make a difference. It doesn't matter if the reason for carrying a knife is on the extreme sides of survival, or because one might like to pick their nails on a regular basis. These tools are awesome and as human beings we must embrace the idea of knives. We must be thankful. And above all else, lets talk about knives.

Just click the threads. ;)

I did, but all I keep seeing is trends. People jumping on the band wagon sort of thing. I thought that maybe after reading this it will enlighten some people. Or at the very least, cause some people to think.

Oh, I'm gonna have to subscribe to this one, just because I love a good train wreck.

What would you like to discuss about knives that isn't already in a thread?

I don't know... did you guys even read my original post? I told everyone why I like knives, some uses, and how I view them in general. How about some other opinions? Agree? Disagree? This is a forum where people talk, bitch, whine, express, consult, get advice, see what's new, and share ideas. According to what you guys are saying, there is no need to post anything since it's probably in a thread somewhere. Why even read new posts right? In fact, why even participate in this forum since everything is probably on the web somewhere. Sometimes it's nice to bring up old or new subjects at different times. Some peoples opinions might have changed since last time. Why bother right?

You're probably a really great guy. Fun to go out for drinks with and all that. But man, you're babbling here. Do you have a point? If so, please cut to the chase. "Let's talk about knives," on a forum with thousands of threads about knives, is really pretty stoopid.

I like knives too, but I am afraid that I'm not really following the gist of this thread.

^ excellent

So you've packaged up a variety of thoughts and opinions that have been stated many different times throughout the site.
For the most part, I agree with what you wrote it just isn't anything new.

I like cake too.
I always cut it with my knife first,
before attaching it to my fork and putting it in my mouth.

...so do you want us to come up with something to entertain you? I did read your original post. I, like others, am confused about your intent. I find many threads here entertaining as well as enlightening. I've learned a lot from being here. I'm just confused about what you are objecting to.

I don't know why but I get the distinct feeling that I should hurry up and order some more cartons of chiclets...Who wants gum?

(That's a subtle hint folks...)
