I like knives... I like them to be sharp, pointy, and sturdy. I like them in a lot of flavors to include fixed blade, bali-song, and folding. They are called knives but remain as tools. It all depends on the needs and what one wants to accomplish. They can be wonderful tools when used and maintained properly. I will not call them weapons because I consider all objects that are used to be tools, until they are used as weapons. These tools can be used for so many things that it will be impossible for me to mention. Some common things I can think of are as follows. Opening mail, cutting boxes, cutting rope, slicing food, splitting wood, cutting zip ties, cutting where scissors can not, skinning animals, cleaning game, making stakes, knotching wood, and above all else, SURVIVING. Whether the elements, or adversary, it doesn't matter. A knife can not only help you survive, but it can help you do it well.
There is no perfect tool for every job and it all depends on what you have, and what you can have at any given time. Personal preferance, and limitations of an environment (rural or urban) make a difference. It doesn't matter if the reason for carrying a knife is on the extreme sides of survival, or because one might like to pick their nails on a regular basis. These tools are awesome and as human beings we must embrace the idea of knives. We must be thankful. And above all else, lets talk about knives.
