Knoboganzaaaa Email Alert!!!!. . . Please Read!!!

Email is fairly unreliable for something like this, especially considering the international aspect. I would like to make the humble suggestion that the next ganza be done via a webform linked to a database, temporarily hosted on a server close to an internet backbone with a temporary but extraordinarily high bandwidth allocation. This would also make it a lot easier for the staff to process the orders.

Maybe some flux capacitors and transwarp drive?

Interesting first suggestion, but let's not try to design an online service on a BF thread. Anywho, I like the randomized, wild west aspect of using e-mail for this. The uncertainty is part of the fun!

I'll give you uncertain - Paddling_Santa! :p

I agree, then I can outsource my order to an IT firm in India that can reverse engineer the web interface and create a program that can go in and grab everything I want faster than any human.

Good idea!

In all seriousness, Busse already does web forms - it's called the Busse Co Store. Check out the Game Warden fervor back at their height. F5ing for hours (or use a trick or two to save that F5 key! ;))

What other flavor? How about direct orders from the Busse site if you don't want to F5. Email or phone. Lovely, pleasant attendants on the other end of the line.(Hi, Lora!! It's time you had a stalker too! No one is immune! :)) Order a combo from the site or fork out that wallet for some Custom Shop delight!

Ganzas? All about the email, baby! Customs without the price or wait. No guarantees you'll get what you want but that is life.

A Busse for every use - an order method for every requirement

Now, back to not being serious!!

I still want to use signal flares. You tech people...

Perhaps carrier pigeons as a low tech option...

That's a great idea. It should be the only option.

My carrier pigeon can kick your carrier pige... okay, got a little carried away.

Or pack mule. Maybe all Ganzaaaa requests should have to travel by pack mule.

Why do we need to over engineer this???

All we need is a slight change:

1.) Jerry starts a GO! GO! GO! thread (already happening)
2.) People interested in buying something post a reply to the GO! thread, which establishes their place in line. (some already do this anyway)
----------------
3.) Then you can eMail your wish list as usual and the email can get there whenever, since your place in line is reserved for everyone to see, there are no problems. (again already happening)

NO ADDITIONAL IT required, what does everyone think?

Greg

Sounds great! My e-mail supposedly arrived within 40 seconds of the go and I still haven't heard a thing.

I think we should have to hand deliver our requests to Jerry himself at a bar somewhere near the Busse Shop. (There is a bar on-site, correct?) :D

That'll separate the wheat from the chaff. :p

about an hour ago, as per Jerrys request, I re-sent my two emails which were sent to info@bussecombat.com, and jerry@bussecombat.com on 11/3, time 9:26:39PM. The two originals did not come back to me, but as of now I have not had a reply from Amy, or anyone. . Please let me know you received my re-sends. Tom Cavalere (NJ)

Please look at my post that I mentioned earlier:):)

Tom,
If I or Jerry do not get it we will contact you :):)

I would worry that between the frantic F5ing and now mass posting the BF server would crash in an ugly way. With online entry directly into a database after a GO GO GO posted on BF, the orders could be printed out in a standardized format and ready to be fulfilled the next day. Along with an instantaneous comparison of requests to inventory.

I agree that it will be Frantic and that's what people enjoy from these Ganzaa's. Its a barbaric fight for your right to get YOUR Busse. Keeping it on the forums keeps it fair (we'll all get the same timeouts). Moving this process to a web based order taking application will simply kill it. The Busse Company Store uses a third party vendor to do it now, it works but its no Ganzaa. We need a solution that keeps the nature of the Ganzaa alive and at a ZERO Cost! That's all I was trying to do with my recommendation.

did you guys include your original time of sending when you did the follow up one?

still unsure if anyone at Busse got anything from me.... have heard nothing...
will I get an email if I didn't score?

i looked at my original email from saturday night and it didn't actually send until like 40 seconds after i press the button... man this ganzaa stuff is confusing but fun!

You should expect to receive an email if you scored or not.

I think the Busse knife group should partner with Al Gore (better known as the inventor of the Internet) to build a more robust messaging infrastructure. :D

That explains a lot. I was amazed that I hadn't heard from Amy yet, seeing as I was right up there with the other speed demons (note that my response to Jerry's GO post was after sending email). When there was a report of DNS issues with the website, I wondered if the mails would get lost, but there was no delivery failure message to so indicate.

Whatever. Message sent again and I know that Amy will be able to sort it all out.
