Knoboganzaaaa Email Alert!!!!. . . Please Read!!!

That explains a lot. I was amazed that I hadn't heard from Amy yet, seeing as I was right up there with the other speed demons (note that my response to Jerry's GO post was after sending email). When there was a report of DNS issues with the website, I wondered if the mails would get lost, but there was no delivery failure message to so indicate.

Whatever. Message sent again and I know that Amy will be able to sort it all out.

Rick

And there you have it folks, my idea in play ;)

(thanks Rick)

Seems like this was just some sort of fluke internet/email thing. I actually think it makes the ganzas more interesting. Never quite know what to expect. :p

Greg, that little bug in your signature is giving me the creepy crawlies. Just thought you should know.

Thanks, I never noticed that before. Now I feel like I have ants in my house. :p

Bug was only there for today, I was just curious if anyone would notice it. I guess I got my answer so the bug is no more ;)

Greg

I agree that it will be Frantic and that's what people enjoy from these Ganzaa's. Its a barbaric fight for your right to get YOUR Busse. Keeping it on the forums keeps it fair (we'll all get the same timeouts). Moving this process to a web based order taking application will simply kill it. The Busse Company Store uses a third party vendor to do it now, it works but its no Ganzaa. We need a solution that keeps the nature of the Ganzaa alive and at a ZERO Cost! That's all I was trying to do with my recommendation.

Greg

The only difference as I see it would be between clicking send on your email and clicking submit on a separate web page. If post Ganza chaos and administrative nightmares are part of the fun than this would indeed ruin the nature of the Ganza. The cost of renting temporary server space would be less than a bottle of JWB.

And they can put all the Ganza money in a lock box!!! ;)

(Greg, that bug is really freaking me out man...) ;)

I'm off tomorrow and drinking tonight. That's not funny, Greg. ;)

I'm gonna go look for a flyswatter now. The FBMProto should work. I'll be right back... Maybe.

And there you have it folks, my idea in play ;)

(thanks Rick)

Greg

Greg..I have been with Busse "a little longer than you have"....I think I do my job pretty well...and I think Jerry who started the Ganzas early on... knows what he is doing:):)

Definitely, I didn't mean anything buy it. You Rock and so do the Ganzaa's I was just trying to be helpful. I'll butt out now.

Greg

Why do we need to over engineer this???

All we need is a slight change:

1.) Jerry starts a GO! GO! GO! thread (already happening)
2.) People interested in buying something post a reply to the GO! thread, which establishes their place in line. (some already do this anyway)
----------------
3.) Then you can eMail your wish list as usual and the email can get there whenever, since your place in line is reserved for everyone to see, there are no problems. (again already happening)

NO ADDITIONAL IT required, what does everyone think?

Greg

I think that I'll go along with however the Boss feels like doing it... His show, his rules... But thanxx for asking.

Jaxx,

If you read the entire thread you will see I was mearly responding to theonew recommendation (post #34) of turning the Ganzaa into a web ordering process. Hence my opening question of "why over engineer this?"

Email is fairly unreliable for something like this, especially considering the international aspect. I would like to make the humble suggestion that the next ganza be done via a webform linked to a database, temporarily hosted on a server close to an internet backbone with a temporary but extraordinarily high bandwidth allocation. This would also make it a lot easier for the staff to process the orders.

As you can clearly see in my follow-on post, I'm clearly for Ganzaaa as they are

So I'm also in favor of leaving it alone

I'm not sure how it all got "lost in translation" so as I said before, I'm butting out.

Sorry, Greg... Still seeing red right now after reading the other threads concerning Amy, so I should have followed this thread back further, But the line still applies to all who have "better ideas" about how Jerry should run his business...

RULE 1: The Boss is always right.
RULE 2: If the Boss is wrong, see RULE 1.

... Know what I mean? LOL

Sorry if I stirred things up. I was just trying to be helpful by making a suggestion that would alleviate a lot of headaches for the Busse team, I do this kind of stuff for a living so its hard for me to keep my mouth shut. I'm drinking now ...
