KO leaves Kershaw

My hope for a better blade steel chive has died.. Well maybe not.. If KO make his company or somthing.. perhaps.. there is hope
 
I am sorry to see Ken leave Kershaw. I am sure both have benefited from their time together.

That said, maybe they can get that Thomas guy to design a few more. I am really diggin my Skyline! :p
 
I am glad to see him go. His designs are top notch, I think he made them a billion dollars with his ingenious designs like his recurve blades and his crazy thumb stud lock that is awesome. Its kershaw who I am have never been fond of because they can't figure out pricing. They sell $50 plus knives with junk steel I wouldn't use as a coat rack. If you don't believe look at the leek, chive, and blur. All are badass, save for the blade steel. Don't get me wrong kershaw can make some top of the line knives I.E. The ZT line, and those I love. I am looking forward to him working for a company that will give you good bang for your buck. Or just make some sick knives. If he teamed up with microtech and made a OTF with one of his recurve blade shapes I would wet my pants. I am sure I will get some heat for this but its my .02

What junk steel are you referring to? Please be specific and feel free to share your personal experiences with the junk steel so we know what your basing your opinion on.

You, apparently have no idea what you're talking about.

Sandvik makes excellent steel for those knives and their new steel is even better.
And in the the 3 knives you mentioned they also use:
CPM D2
ZDP189
S30V
S60V
I guess those are "junk steels" too?

I'm convinced Socom Elite has no experience with Kershaw, Ken Onion or quality knives in general. His post history proves it. Unfortunately he has chosen to speak from an opening other than his mouth.

Also.. Mr Socom... You don't know what you're talking about. I have a Leek, and a Chive, Scallion, and Blackout. NONE of them are made of junk. I've worked in a knife shop, collected knives, and used them for years and have more than I really need. Trust me, compared to many other knife companies and steels, Kershaws are far from junk.

Just today I got 3 leeks and a shallot! This is an interesting turn in Kershaws business, I look forward to their future.

My SG-2 Blur is feeling left out...

Really it should be pointed out that Kershaw has always got the best out of any steel they use, and none of them come close to being "crap". There was that dive knife with 420j2, but that's kind of to be expected. The Chives use 420HC, but try finding a knife in that price range that doesn't... Oh hey, there's the LFK that uses AUS-6, and costs 4$ less.

Kershaw has always serviced the high end steel crowd, that's one of their specialties. Go pick up an S110V Shallot while you can, it's one of the best deals the knife world has seen in a very long time.
 
I'd argue that Kershaw is the leader in steel at the moment. Their crazy cool D2/154CM composite blades cannot be ignored. Plus damascus, ZDP, pretty much anything you could want.

I think the "lowest" steel that they regularly offer is the 440A. I admit that I'd like to seem some minor steel upgrades in the lower end of their lineup.
 
Kershaw builds knives for every budget and price point .Nothing wrong with that. There is something for everyone. Any way thanks for all your support ! Who knows what the future holds , I look forward to the future and hope for the best. I'm sure it will be an exciting adventure.

I am not going to give that arse the pleasure of seeing himself quoted again, but I am saddened that the good name of Kershaw has been besmurched in such a callous manner. It is obvious that the fellow in question has no idea what he is talking about and rather than try to educate him, I prefer that he simply be allowed to wallow in his ignorance.

The fine works of Kershaw and Ken Onion stand proud in the industry and I have no doubt that both will continue to set the highest mark for others to follow.
