Kurikas in Afghanistan

I think all the anti smoking zealots should quit driving to help clean up the air -- and quit flying, too. And quit using electricity that comes from a fossil fuel plant. Like almost all zealots, they're nuts.

I agree completely.

Also--the argument that smokers drive up the cost of health care without paying any more is invalid.

For one, plenty of other people have 'bad habits' like over-eating (or under-eating) which cause problems.

And, more relevantly, most of the cost of cigarettes is in a 'luxury tax' which could/should be used to supplement any increased cost in health care for smokers (of course, there should be a national health care plan too, but that's another issue entirely....).

cheers, B.

I have to agree as well about the zealots!!!! I am a firm believer that smokers have rights too.
I also agree that tobacco is the world's most habit forming drug as well as being one of the nastiest, most costly, habits we humans can take up.
But it's still a personal choice to either start smoking or to quit as one chooses.

...........Snip.:)

Now at one of Barb's and mine favorite semi-cafeterias the smokers are relegated to a closed in back room like Lepers a long ways away from the food tables.
No one stopped to think about any smokers who may be disabled or handicapped in some way having to go so far to get their
food.
I know it was done out of convienence and to save money for the restaraunt as there was already a glass wall between the two areas and the walled off area used to be used for private parties but that still doesn't make it right!!!!
Oklahoma, the largest group of hypocrites in one place it seems sometimes, is now starting to jump on the bandwagon of banning smoking from public places.:(

We just keep on letting legislature legislate our freedoms away from us.:(

When the "smokephobes" got going in Kentucky ( a major tobacco state, as you know) there were "smoking" and "non-smoking" areas in the restaurants. Now, the "non-smoking" area is a well decorated door that leads back to the parking lot. Last week, I was asked not to light my pipe in a men's BARBER SHOP! Over half the people waiting were tobacco farmers. I lit it, and got up and left. Four followed me, but we had all been going there for years. Funny part is that I came back to Auburn, and got a good cut at a beauty salon across from my old plant. I asked (as PC as I could), and the gal said "why sure, Honey - we don't mind that a bit". Now I'm confused as to who was the barber and who was the hairdresser
