KW Exclusive Military CF/Ti S90V + CQI Improvements

1200 is not a small number nor is $280. These facts together with many variants of Military in the market (discontinued or still running), make it hard for me to believe that this s90/ti/cf millie will be sold out soon. My plan is to hold on for a while and see some first hand reviews on it before pullibg the trigger.
Why do you need to wait to see reviews?

does anyone have a resource that compares spyderco's s90v to anything else in real world testing?

thanks, I forgotten it was on the list. its middle of the pack for course (benchmade is superior edge geometry for edge retention) and top of the list for mirror finish.

will this version still be 60hrc? or does the cqi involve a different heat treatment?

@Sal Glesser could you comment? I just like knowing everything technical about the things I own (will own).

Did somebody say green 204P?

I was against getting this new one. The more I see it being discussed the more I'm tipping over. o_O Brain is hurting...

I'm not a member of the Spydie-Co Forums but just went to glean over there to see what the pulse was regarding this iteration of the exclusive Millie and to my surprise, I saw similar trend of about 2 out of 3 for it. I had thought that the forumites would be more enthusiastic over there (still a high enough percentile) but the sentiment seemed to be mirroring the same trend in here. Who knows, maybe those posters are the same as you guys in here but under different monikers :P

I believe that the level of interest was tempered by the choice of steel. Interest may have been greater had this been released with M4.

In that case, I'll just get my extra hour to hour and a half of sleep and will just be ready to order this 8 AM PDT which is 10 AM CDT although the website mentioned 8 AM CST!

I had gathered that it was perhaps more tempered by its higher and therefore more prohibitive cost factor. Admittedly I don't know much about S90 but I keep reading about the difficulties in sharpening it once the edge gets gets dull.

I really dig that Sir! Was it hard to do? Thanks
Thanks. Not at all, besides the financial effort of buying duplicates :D
I've used the frame from the M4 KW exclusive and the front slab & blade from the M390 sprint, worked like a charm

Depends on which of Ankerson's two protocols you're looking at. In the second version, it still comes out a fair bit ahead of 204P and well ahead of M390.

s90v is not that difficult to sharpen. Not any more difficult than s110v. Any kind of diamond stones will help get your s90v back to sharp!

^^^ perhaps most folks use the more basic Sharpmaker system and they do not order the coarser diamond rods which are admittedly quite pricey. I don't see how a KME, Wicked Edge or similar won't be able to handle the task of putting a screaming edge on an S90V steel in the hands of a proficient (or semi pro) handy dandy!

i was able to sharpen s90v with ceramic stones really easily as well as with diamond.

i have one of those $3 smiths fine ceramic stones. wasnt a reprofile at all, but it went from dull to sharp.

Mo2, I have several 3" x 8" DMT diamond plates from coarse to superfine plus the Spyderco Ultra Fine ceramic plate in the same size plus a few Flex Strop paddles in black, green and white; but I hazard to use freehand on beautifully satin finished blades. At some point I may have to pony up either for a KME Deluxe system or look for a good Wicked Edge, although I tend to like the W.E. better just because the way the sharpening and the honing plates traverse along the blade length, However, I already have enough free hand stuff at my disposal to not worry about maintaining a sharp edge on an S90V.

I'm really excited about this one, I'm going to be ordering an Endura and a Delica as well. This will be my 5th millie and first framelock. Good times
