Ok, I gotta ask cause I just don't know. Does it really matter who makes the Kydex sheath we have? I know there are a lot of different ones like David Brown, Steelnut, MashedCat and other no namers. But does it really matter who makes it? Is one better in quality then the others? Does someone make ones with flaws in them or something? Do anyone have a preference and why?

I've had really good dealings with Buy Brown, his fit is more to my liking and overall very good quality.

It's more a matter of personal preference than anything else. Some sheath maker's design use more 'grip' on the blade, others have more of the tension on the scales. Then there are differences in carry options.

Choices are good.

I think you can't go wrong with any of the makers, but I've dealt mostly with Buy Brown, mainly because he offered some good deals around BLADE and because he innovated the awesome open spine sheath design in kydex. Now that I've started making my own kydex I will probably not buy too many more commercial kydex sheaths anymore, but mine are butt ugly. I've certainly gained a much greater appreciation for the attention to detail that goes into kydex sheaths after hacking a few together myself.

Yes it does matter who makes it. Also some sheath makers already own many Busse knives so you dont have to send them in.

I've only ever tried Okuden and his sheaths are so outstanding I never had the desire to try anyone else. That is not to say that the other guys don't make awesome sheaths too because from the pictures that I have seen, it appears that they do. I'm sure I would be happy with a sheath from any of the makers you mentioned. Based on my limited experience though, I can for sure give a big  to Okuden :)

ok, so it makes a difference, has anyone ever had most of them and want to list their own they think are the best quality down? I'm not trying to start any trouble here but I don't know. I can't even tell them apart except David Brown's has a BB on them or as he has told me, if it has a talon hole, then he made it. How do you tell the other ones apart?

Okuden is by far the BEST I've ever had.

Buy Brown is good to but I find them too tight on the blade for me.

Mashed Cat's are Good, but people who don't know his designs have a tendancy to cut half their finger off because when they grip the sheath they can get a finger below the line of the edge and pull the blade right through their finger.

My keepers are all in Okudens...my SAR4 beater is in a Mashed Cat.

Here is my opinion based on experience.
Okuden was my first and is top notch. Great fit and finish with standardized models.
Buy Brown has super cool designs and a rock solid lock up on the handle with minimal blade contact.
Steelnut has fast versatile designs and great lockup @ a great price.
Mashed Cat has great communication and can/will customize on many options. Great lockup, minimal blade contact and is what all my INFI is dressed in currently.

I have been happy with all my dealings with each of them. They all rock!

i have/or have used a few different makers' sheaths...
for the MOST part, it becomes a personal prefference or a "style" per say...

bb, mashed cat, steelnut, you are simply not going to go wrong with them, quality workmanship and stand behind there product...

i have used a couple i did not care for,not made by anyone i just mentioned above... one just kind of "felt" flimsy, though i honestly never had a problem with it, and another, well it was just plain too tight, almost non usable.

so if it's a name you see here on this site frequent, odds are it's of quality, pick one that appeals to you...if you look at them closely, they all have a distinct "style" for lack of a better word...

well, this should be clear as mud to ya now :)

Okuden has a certain feel that I really like. I'll happily use any kydex sheath he's made.

I'm a believer in brand loyalty. Steelnuts helped me out with my first Busse blade. He put up with my billion questions and produced an amazing sheath. His drop leg design is pretty unique and retension is perfect. Not to mention he seems like a pretty cool guy. Oink!

I've carried Busse's around the world in Okuden sheaths and neither has ever failed. Not to slam anybody but I only trust Busse knives in Okuden sheaths and am not interested in trying anybody else.
