Hell... I roll my own kydex! It's a great way to spend a Saturday or lazy Sunday in the garage with a beer or 15.
One thing for sure, is that there are some very talented makers on this forum. All of them different in their own way. Some guys produce sheaths at a lower price with slightly lower finished quality. Others produce beautiful sheaths that are a bit more money.
If I wanted something cool... really cool... and could pick only one maker... Dave Brown would be the guy I'd call. Some artists use canvas... Dave uses kydex. He has turned kydex into an art form and does things I have not seen elsewhere.
To answer the OP... yes... there is a difference. It is in the details. Slapping together some kydex is, quite frankly, simple. Preventing blade-rub yet maintaining solid retention, smoothing out the 'sharp' spots, ensuring there are no gaps, etc... is what takes time. And time is money. You will likely get what you pay for (just like everything else in life)

.
Now, I'll state again... I roll my own. I have no dog in this fight (hope it doesn't come down to that!)

... but in my opinion, I don't think a guy could go wrong with any of the mentioned makers. Caddy or Chevy... it's your money, make your pick. Kydex is tough stuff and will likely outlive you. If only is smelled like leather...
