Ladies & Gentleman. May I present the HIS(style)SB? Pic?

Uncle,

Sign me up!

It's a good thing the medical industry is thinking of starting a secondary market in organs. Now you can sell a kidney or a few extra toes and pick up a few khukuries. I guess we'll all be limping into the next convention.

20" it is a lot of knife!!! Shall we call it the cherokee scimitar? It is beautiful, I only regret I will be away from the States for over a year and I won't be able to get one for a long time.
Great job!!!

ohhh ahhh

That looks like a combat knife that will build a heck of a shelter and fire. Love the striking capability of the back of the blade.

20"??? I didn't realize it was that big. I was thinking it was like an old Case/Randall Bowie. welllll.... looks like it will keep the wild hogs away!

Rob,

How much can I get for about 8 pints of AB + in Maine?? They won't PAY you for blood in S.D.... in fact, they won't even TAKE mine, cuz it is a rare type. They only want the common types...

I want to find someplace that isn't picky and will give me enough $$ to get me a BOWIE :D !!!!

Yvsa,

Nice JOB!!! It was well worth the wait. I kept seeing posts on the elusive bowie you were working on... . 20"... hum. I wonder if we could figure out an in the waistband shealth system for it :D .

Umm...wow. That is some incredible wood work...and the bowie design itself looks deadly. Good for thrusts, great for cuts and chops and backcuts. Looks like a winner...if the kamis can keep the weight down to specs.

The term scimitar is an English corruption of the Persian word 'shamshir', which means 'curved like a tiger's nail'. A shamshir looks nothing like what you might see in any Aladdin or Sinbad movie...it is long, curved and graceful...not curved, fat and clipped.

The sword above is a historical example. The sword below is mine.

As you can see, the bowie does not look as if it was derived from the classical Persian weapon.

I have always wanted a Scagel style bowie, and I just might be able to afford an HI version:)

I like the shape, but, (I just have to do this) -- wouldn't it cut better and last longer if you made it out of METAL instead of WOOD? Looks like your prototype would only cut soft pine if you made it out of hickory or something like that... Heh heh heh....

:D :P :D

I figured since the caveman is gone for a month, someone had to fill in for him...

Looks great, and I love the curves!

OR...turn them into tame sausage - YUM:D

 That make no sense to me bruddah:eek: You'd think they'd want all the rare stuff they could get get, cause, well, its RARE!! What will they tell YOU when you get hurt and they don't have enough of the rare stuff:D

Thanks for the tip Kmark, in italian we say "scimitarra" and it describes exactly the shamshir as you pointed out. I think the Brits have named one of their tanks or armored veichles "scimitar" as well.
The name came to my mind because of the OAL of Yvsa's creation.
Is anybody thinking about a holster yet?

Kmark I'm more concerned about the balance than I am the
weight.
IF the kamis can get the balance right at the guard or within a 1/4" or less on either side of the guard a whole lot of weight can disappear in one's hand!!!!
I truly believe that proper balance is the key to a good Bowie knife and everyone says that is the proper place to have a Bowie balanced if you want it to disappear in the hand.
But I would also prefer to have it on the light side of the weight scale myself.:)

And if the balance isn't just quite right on then I would prefer the blade to have the weight rather than the handle.
At least then it would make a better chopper......
