Here is a rough picture of the knife I drew. It is mostly going to appeal to women I think, but any input is appreciated. I wanted something really small, because I like to know I have it but I don't want anyone else to know. And I want a really comfy handle. Bryan said I should have a handle like the psk, but I wanted something a little different than that..The handle is just a smidgen under 4" and the blade is is a smidgen over 2" making the overall length about 6"....What do you all think?

There's seem to be a growing market for "Pocket" fixed blade knives. This one would solidly fit in that category. If I am in a job where I am having to access a knife for various cutting tasks throughout the day, I abosultely hate having to open and close a folder all the time. This is where small, fixed blade knives come into their own.

As you mentioned it's a great size to always have yet won't get in the way. Do you carry a purse? If so, a sheath that would velcro into place might be just the thing.

Can't wait to see the finished product. Make sure you post progress pics.

I also like the blade shape. Useful for lots of things yet an easy to sharpen shape.

I think that there aren't enough knives like that on the market. Full size handles with short blades are super handy and will appeal to more than just women. I find they are ideal for dressing out game as large as whitetail.

I would personally like to see a bit more belly on the blade and maybe a little less radical contouring of the handle.

I would love to see the finished product. It looks like it has mucho potential.

It it was for me I would add one more inch to the blade. Other than that, it looks like a winner to me. Good job.

I like the idea of a 2" blade on a 4" handle. What i would change, however, is the overall height of the blade and the belly/drop of the spine.

I'd like to see the height at about 1" with more forward belly and less drop. In fact, if you took the blade on your blank and turned it upside-down, thin it to 1" H and put on a full-flat or hollow grind, you'd have a real winner.

So, take what you have, flatten the side that you have the finger contours on, put some contours on the other side and finish 'er up. That should leave you with a slight drop point, a full forward belly, and a neat little slicer.

Once you have slabs on it, send it off to me for evaluation :D.

Well, I like it. Reminds me of the small Kat knife Bryan recently made me...and yes, I think there is a trend toward smaller utilitarian blades for discreet carry. This would be nice in a bag or a pocket!

Hey azshaman, I am glad you commented. The knife bryan made for you and your review of your knife inspired me to come up with this small knife design. Just the fact that you loved yours so much made me realize that is what I needed and wanted which was a smaller knife. I love your phrase "A girl needs a knife"

Thanks very much for the comments everyone...Yes I do carry a purse but I want my knife somewhere on my person because its more handy that way. And there are a few places I go that I don't take my purse. I am thinking of making the handle a little less curvey.

Hey Breedenknifegirl....I have one word for you..."PINK." I swear, ever decent knife that has been offered in pink, I have had to buy for my wife. She claims that "if more people made pink knives, women would buy them." :D

On top of all that, our anniversary is a week from today, and I had to buy my wife a "pink" Ruger 10/22. Maybe it is just her, but that color sure has cost me a lot of money :D

Have you considered a wharncliff style blade? I am considering making one myself about that size. They slice great and it gives very good tip control.

If you can get a Fallkniven WM1 model into your hands you will have a nice comparision. The complaint with the WM1 has been the thin/flattish handle. This in a knife marketed for women, so this is why i suggest checking one out in person so as to take a different line. Pink micarta scales, small donation to get the breast cancer logo on it and you might out sell Brian's models!

Looks like a really useful blade.
I agree with Charlie that this looks like a great pocket fixed blade.
I look forward to seeing the final product.

I second that, my GF is the same way. If it was pink she would love it. I bought here a benchmade mini griptillian for xmas with pink handles and she LOVES it. She aslo feels that way about pistol grips.:D Nice design you have there, I too agree with easing the handle curves a bit. I like the kephart-ish blade with a lower point, it would make it a handy cutter while still having a usefull pointed tip.

I like it just the way it is. I have a few knives with short handles and shorter blades, not for concealment at all, but utility. It's easier using a small knife on small detailed work. Some I like a bit of a wharnecliff point, some I prefer more of a spearpoint. Your design would grip well with 3 fingers for me and give me great control of the blade. I would wear it on my belt, crossdraw left of the buckle.

A less radical handle contour would be my suggestion, but go with how it feels in the hand rather than what it looks like on the net to us. I really like the idea of a 2' wharncliffe idea but that is just me.

I would love to have pink, purple, light blue and teal G10 handles as options for this knife. Ok all you lurking ladies, what do you think? I really like this blade shape but as I said I think the handle should less curvey.....

It reminds me of a knife my buddy had made for his daughter.
Pink knives are cool.
