Ladysmith Collaboration: Warenski, Dellana, Draper, Horne, DesRosiers

Haley,

I'm not on Facebook but would like to know more about how the sale is being conducted; sent you an email and PM.

Thankyou for the kind words Will, after writing an article for Dr. Darom's book and one for BLADE I'm having a hard time not plagiarizing myself. Mercifully we're all friends here and you guys are easy to talk to!

I wasn't sure how much sale info was appropriate on this forum but I'd be happy to send anyone the promo email. The short version of it is that bids can be placed via email (haley@alaskablades.com) I will be posting the bids to the FB page anonymously so that collectors can view the current bids live. The page is public so it can be viewed by those who don't have a FB account. If anyone has any questions or concerns please don't hesitate to contact me. If as a maker you have an email list of collectors that this might interest, consider passing on our promo email. You could be an important link in the chain!

You don't have to place a bid to get in touch or ask about the knife/project, we're knife nuts around here...it's out of my price range too or I'd be bidding on it myself ;)

Haley: The whole package is wonderful, of course, but what I particularly enjoyed about your post is the story behind the project and evolution of both the knife and the cause to which the group is dedicating its proceeds. It puts a real human spin on things that often gets lost in just seeing a final product. Thank you and your partners for sharing such a personal, professional experience. And good luck with getting as much out of the sale as possible. Some one's going to have a unique treasure. Happy New Year.

Congratulations on making the cover of Blade Magazine and the fine article accompanying it.
Very well written Haley, I enjoyed it thoroughly.

way to go Haley, et al!
I just got my Blade, but I think I'm a month behind. Guess I'll have to wait:(

Congratulations, this entire operation is GREAT in every aspect!!!:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

Congrats to Haley and ALL the other talented ladies responsible for this blade. It's beautiful. I have the issue and can't wait to read it.

Such a graceful, evocative piece from such talented people for such a far-reaching cause. Kudos to you ladies and to Blade for putting it front and center.

Edited--asking how the bidding is progressing and any new dollar amounts?

Thanks again for the encouragement guys and to everyone who's been sharing the page and email! I'll be bringing the piece to the Seattle International Show the last weekend in April and it will also be displayed at table 13Q at BLADE if anyone would like to see it in person.

The bid stands at $2500.

I started it perhaps a little early but I expect some more interest in the next couple months as the closing time nears.

Cheers!

Here is the opening page illustration that I created for the 6-page
story in my next book on this beautiful collaboration, using several
of Eric Eggly's pictures...

From my book "The World of Art Knives" Vol. III (now in print!!)

All the best,

Wow, what an Awesome blade(all-inclusive) for such a great cause   !!! Only thing that I wish could've happened here was a full blown WIP :D Oh well, maybe next time ;) But aside from that this is just all waay too cool. And I agree, the way that you write Hayley has a lot of style to it and really brings even more life to this collab/story. I hope I get a chance to read the BLADE artical, I'm not subbed and not a single store near me sells it, so I guess I should get at it right away! I think it would be cool if there was a place that listed all the great famale bladesmiths/ knifemakers that had links to their sites to see their work etc. Personally I'm only aware of 3-4 great female "artisans" of this craft, but after reading this and seeing all of the different names, it sure sounds as if there are quite a few more out there. Anyway, thanks for sharing all of this, I'm sure glad I didn't miss this thread :)
