Lamine River Valley hike and HWK+ review

Sorry man I cant help myself......:D

Yeah I carry the Firesteel and whistle around my neck, usually there is more on the necklace, but I took some stuff off because I was reviewing and taking pics of the firesteel for woodsmonkey. ;)

I'm going to have to try again at putting stuff around my neck. Normally I'm not a big fan of stuff around my neck, but keeping my whistle in my pack doesn't make all that much sense I guess.

Some people dont like things around their neck. I dont mind at all. I like having some "essentials" around my neck. Comforting I guess.

Great pics Jake! I like my HWK a lot too. It needs a workout. I have been selfishly giving my attention to my Stomper Field Knife.

:eek:Dude you better show that HWK+ some love, or just send it on to me.

:Dhehe

Man it is hard to spread the love between the blades. I really want some dirt time with my RC4, but keep on reachin for the HWK+, and with the Project W, it makes it even harder. I have carried the RAT a little IWB, but thats been in town. Man, choices rule.:thumbup:

J,

I'll make you a deal of a life time. In order for your RC4 to feel some love, send me your HWK+ for 2 days, and I'll give it the Missouri treatment in Oregon! It's the least I could do for your poor RC4.

I really like your setup as well, still can't make myself order a similar rig. Part of me is wanting to move away from nalgene bottles, plastic or metal for some reason.

Jake, thanks for the review of the HWK! The HWK in that size is my all time best selling model. It seems to be a very good all around knife. Oh and I like your gear too:thumbup:

maybe when my other 2 from Ray are done, a passaround is in order.:)

Why the move from the nalgene/ guyot type bottles? What are you wanting to start using?

Thanks Ray, it was great puttin it through some work. Ive used it alot since I got it, but this was the first time I took pics, and really gave it a workout. Its a great knife, I can see why its such a popular model!!

great pics,,,,

Thanks man, the pics turned out good, there is more, but you will have to wait to see them on woodsmonkey!

Did you hike the wildlife area? I was involved in a research project there about 25 yrs ago. We stocked river otters and I radio-tracked them for a year. Great memories!

Great stuff Jake! I'm sorry I missed this yesterday.

Looks like the perfect day.

I'm digging that HWK+ too. Definitely nice.

Wow! does this ever bring back memories :) I used to go up to WildCliff Lake very close to where the Lamine River and the Blackwater River intersect with each other. If you're familiar with the area it is close to the town of Blackwater, Missouri. I'm sure we're on the same page because I see you are from Missouri. Is this close to where that park is right under the bridge where I-70 goes over?

If I remember correctly the Lamine River goes south and gets really close to Sedalia, Missouri. Like I said I sure have some great memories about many of those rivers here in Missouri. I wonder how the Current River in the Mark Twain forest would be this time of the year?
