Very cool, thanks for posting that. We used to make something very similar when I was a kid with a spool and embroidery thread.Heres a homemade "Spool" by David Hopper at Stormdranes Blog [not my photo]. Should work great for microcord. Larger hole for 95# cord, larger again for 275#, and again for 550#. He has lots of examples on his site.

This can be done with or without a 'core' of another cord.
There are several designs out there that don't involve weaving cord. If you use google and several terms in your search. Then use google images.
You can use the term "lanyard" and "paracord lanyard leash", etc.

Don't tell anyone, but paracord "knotting and weaving" is essentially "crocheting". SHHHH.![]()
