I got about a 1/8 inch bungie cord from REI. Put a loop on one end that I run under my belt, then put my OH SAK down thru the loop, and carry the SAK in my right front trouser pocket. If I need to take the lanyard off of my belt, I do not have to open the belt to do it. The lanyard is about 18 inches long, but because it can stretch, I can do about 95% of the tasks I need done, for the other 5% I can easily take the lanyard off my belt. John

Go buy some microcord. Get a small "weaving spool", then learn how to make a lanyard. Look on stormdranes blog. You can Google "paracord spool" a d it should come up with several videos and a few places that sell them. Want bigger cord use 95# cord or 275# cord.

Here are a few out of 275 cord that the owner requested, I can't find pictures of the ones I made out of Microcord which is much more flexible although this is stronger. Notice I made the beads out of cord too (white knots are glow cord), its a "single strand diamond" or "ranger bead" knot. The rest was made on a "Spool" which you can buy or make.
Make the "lanyard" as long as you want it.

If you don't want "tactical colors" choose another color. LOL SMH. Literally hundreds and hundreds of colors. OD green sounds "tactical" but its an "earthtone" which is NOT. Also try tan, moss, brown, burnt orange, gray, black (also not tactical), tan, etc.
This won't work with leather.

Heres a homemade "Spool" by David Hopper at Stormdranes Blog [not my photo]. Should work great for microcord. Larger hole for 95# cord, larger again for 275#, and again for 550#. He has lots of examples on his site.

This can be done with or without a 'core' of another cord.

There are several designs out there that don't involve weaving cord. If you use google and several terms in your search. Then use google images.
You can use the term "lanyard" and "paracord lanyard leash", etc.

Hope this helps someone even if the OP hates it.

Very cool, thanks for posting that. We used to make something very similar when I was a kid with a spool and embroidery thread. :)

Don't tell anyone, but paracord "knotting and weaving" is essentially "crocheting". SHHHH. :D

Tsk. The technical term is "Man-crame," making it totally more manly than that crocheting or macrame stuff. Which is for girls. This means you can carry it in your messenger bag, which is NOT a Man Purse, without losing all your Y chromosome cred.

My flashlight leash and knife fob
