Lanyard or no lanyard, that is the question.

Do you keep the lanyard on your CRK folders?

So I've started to carry my 25 today, no lanyard. I am trying to decide if I like it better without. I notice there seems to be an even mix in photos of CRK folding knives with the lanyard or with it removed.

Let's make this scientific, why don't we? Do you prefer your CRK folder (21 / 25 / Umnum / classic / regular) with or without a lanyard?

A proper lanyard can be of use when you may drop the knife and never see it again, such as over deep or fast water. The little 2" fobs that come on a CRK folder are useless to me and I don't like them on my knives at all.

The first thing I do to my CRK's is remove the lanyard.

I did try it out when I got my first Sebenza, but found no use for it.

Tie my own lanyards, It hangs outside the pocket for easy access. Gotta have one for easy draw, just feels natural. Pocket clip keeps it always in the same position.

I really tried to like the lanyards as I have had them on other knives but after a week or so I have taken them off and I thought my CRK's would be different and forced myself to leave then on a couple of my CRK's about a year ago and I just could not get used to something hanging out of my pocket and now I have ""no"" knives with a lanyard and 8 lanyards in one of my Safes.!** Funny about how you want something to work out and in the end you ask yourself ~~ why am I doing this when I don't like the way it feels or looks but a lot of other people really like them.??
Guess that is what it is all about -- we are not all alike and we don't have to be.**

I like the old style CRK lanyard The new ones look pretty, but I like the old style much better. It would fold down out of the way when not needed and you always had about 2' of cord if an emergency arised. If you wanted to retie it in a different way, you had the cordage to do so.....!!!

Definitely with a lanyard, any of them, mainly cause I'm a big pus and pocket carry with the sheath, the small I carry in my front shirt pocket and the lanyard for both makes it easier to get the knife. I just think it's part of the knife that defines the CRK, but that's just me.

nyefmaker, by "old style" do you mean the basic black ones, or is there more than one flavour of the black ones?

Especially on the small Sebenza's i like lanyards; it's like an extension of the handle.
I removed clips, but seldom lanyards.
If I have dirty work to do, then I remove the lanyard of my Nyala, as it's easily done.

I prefer my knife as deep as it will go in my pocket. So the lanyard comes off pretty quick. I have left it on my Zaan (not sure why, guess it was my first and I want to keep in original) but the small never has a lanyard. I do like hearing why others like or dislike. I like the idea of 4" of cord if you need it.

I prefer lanyards. Didn't before. The knife just seems plain without one. I tie my own. I have them on my Zero tolerance, Kershaws, and if course CRKs. I have a 25 and took off the black one it came with. It was too stiff and wouldn't tuck into my pocket out of the way. I made another identical to it, but the cord I used is softer and could be pushed down. Just received my small sebbie and will do the same thing. Just not sure if I will do a noose knot or snake knot. I have slightly longer lanyards than the stock CRKs on my non CR knives.

My 25 lanyard

The useless but decorative stock lanyard of my new small 21. May do same snake knot with bead but a longer section without knot like my ZT. Haven't seen one like that on a CRK before.

I've never understood why a person needs or wants a lanyard on a knife. I don't need a 2-3 lanyard to take my CRK's and other knives out of my pocket.

IMO the CRK lanyard looks weird/unnecessary sticking out of my pocket----that's just me tho.

I immediately took the lanyard off every CRK I've owned. But, I get some spare Umnumzaan o-rings, put them around the lanyard pin, and re install them. To me, the Sebenza looks incomplete without the pin in place.

I go with lanyard!

It just looks like art with beautiful bead!

So scientifically, at least right now, it is split perfectly down the middle, with 18 votes in each camp. Go figure, there is no best answer. So far it's a coin toss.
