Lanyard or no lanyard?

Went through a leather lanyard phase but I found them getting in the way and actually prefer the overall look without.

When I first got the small I took the lanyard off. A month later, i put it back on and it has stayed on ever since.

No lanyard pin, always a lanyard for visibility (ever since I almost lost one).

This thread needs more photos.

After talking about it, I just did this. Found some leather from Gary G. on the forums here. This is probably the only thing I will use. It is very lite weight and looks pretty cool. I do love 550 as well, but I gave up on beads and things a long while ago.

Knife looks great Matt!!

Lanyards for me! I like the functionality for pulling the knife out of the pocket and/or sheath, I like the extra "handle" they provide, and I like the look and individuality they provide.

The one exception is my Micarta 25 - the lanyard seems to interfere with my grip. I just got it and haven't really used it yet, so maybe I will like a lanyard on that too.

Here is one I did this morning...

I usually like something a bit busier, but it's still sort of two-tone.

Nice lanyard Ken!!

Personally, I like lanyards..For both visibility as well as a utilitarian purpose to pull them out of my pocket. It's always been there, so I have gotten used to them.

Is your lanyard pin supposed to fall out on an Umnumzaan if you remove the lanyard? I just decided to take my lanyard out, and upon walking across the room, the pin flew out somewhere.

IIRC, the lanyard pin on the small sebenza is stepped so it won't fall out...otherwise, I think all the other CRK are just straight pins with a hole in them. (Simplistic description anyway)
So, without the lanyard, there isnt' any retention feature.

If that's the case, fine. If it only stays in with the lanyard, I never intend to use it. I just didn't want to lose something I needed.

If you find it, I have seen where people have put a small piece of lanyard through the hole and used a lighter to melt the ends of the lanyard to use as a retainer. Seems to work if you find it and want to keep it whole.

Yep, this works well.

I kinda do. I got used to seeing it there. Looks like a gaping hole now. Maybe I'll see if I can get it replaced.

I went through several different lanyards on my Rat Model-1 (Which has been misplaced. Haunts me everyday). I enjoyed them all, but really stumbled upon something I totally dug. Taking one of the many spent .38 Special shell casings I had lying around, I drilled a hole in in the center and used it in a bead sort of set up. I found it so handy to reach down to pull the knife out of the pocket with the bullet bead.

I like to keep my sebbies clean looking. I've never used lanyards on my knives, and the CRKs are no different.

I just don't have any need for them *shrug*

In general I think the lanyard gets in the way on fixed blade knives. But then I was watching a competition and the lanyards were all on the front of the handle and it looked like that would keep your hand away from the blade better then then ones in the back of the handle.
