Lanyard or no lanyard?

I like to keep my sebbies clean looking. I've never used lanyards on my knives, and the CRKs are no different.

I just don't have any need for them *shrug*

I understand that, but have you ever TRIED one? I used to feel the same way, the tried one and after a few weeks, I dont think I could go back.

Sometimes you don't know what you need until you try it;)....or not....

No lanyard pin, always a lanyard for visibility (ever since I almost lost one).

This thread needs more photos.

Unit, that's a long (but gorgeous) lanyard! Especially the bottom one, hehe. Do you tuck it into your pocket or let it hang out? Also, do you use a CRK Slip Pouch with it?

And why you at it (answering those questions)....... you can go ahead a post a few more pics of your craftsmanship if you'd like, haha. I won't mind....... ;)

The only knives I use a lanyard on are frame or liner lock knives I only get a three finger grip on. It just makes me feel better to wrap my pinky over the lanyard. I love the look of lanyards and love to tie them but they just get in the way for me. I love my 25 and I tried but could not keep the lanyard on it. I do have a small reflective lanyard on my cadet as well.

I prefer the look of plain leather lanyards so I ordered extra lanyard spacers from CRK and put the original lanyards in the box for safekeeping. I tie my own leather lanyards. I think they get better looking as time passes.

Wow, thanks.

I just finished a few batches that shipped out this morning otherwise I could have shared photos of those.

Here are some older ones I did.

The top two in the bottom photo are highly reflective. They generally look reddish orange unless you shine a light in their direction, then they appear to have their own light source. I started using lanyards following loss of my sebenza at a worksite. It became partially buried and a high viz lanyard would have cut my search time by hours;)

I generally wear these clipped traditionally in my right front pocket with lanyard swinging in the breeze. I tuck them in when I jog or go to the gym.

Welcome! You deserve the praise for doing such a wonderful job, sir! :)

Thanks for the courteous reply w/ pictures, also. I really enjoyed them!

And hey, that was you who lost the Sebenza helping his friend clean up his urban property, huh? Yeah, I remember reading that thread and feeling just as relieved as you when you found it, Lol. It seems fellow knife knuts are connected in a strange way like that, hehe. In the way that we feel/relate to each others emotions when it comes to knives....... whether that be receiving them or losing them. :p :D

True.

I left the lanyard on my first small 21 for a couple days, but never warmed up to it.

I'd say the same thing. I always pull off the CRK lanyards. I'm not suggesting you would like any other lanyard (if you tried a CRK), but I tied and tried SEVERAL designs before I found anything I remotely liked, and now I love it.

I fully realize that most will refuse to WORK at liking a lanyard (because it is a silly concept)...for me it was something I had to do (see above).

I thought lanyards were positively STUPID for years...now I doubt I could go back comfortably (shrug)

Some of mine have lanyards, some don't. I almost never use the stock lanyard though, I always end up playing musical lanyards.

Remove ASAP. I think they get in the way and add pocket clutter. I certainly wouldn't leave the tail hanging out of the pocket to snag on things and call attn.

I've used lanyards in the past on knives but none now. One issue I have specifically with the CRK lanyards is they are tied so tight to the handle they have no give to allow them to fall loose. They stick up like a curly pig tail and it seems to keep it in the way.

When I got my first few Sebenza's I took the lanyard off. About 2 months ago, I reattached all of them. I like the look, the convenience, and after all, that's how Chris sent it to me. If it's good enough for Chris, it's certainly good enough for me.

I like lanyards on my CRKs. Like the looks and sometimes tie lanyards on other knives that have deep carry clips. Just makes them easier for me to extract.
