I have had this blade waiting for a handle for about 4 months now.
After seeing the first one David made in this thread I had to have one.

I modified the handle shape slightly to better fit my hand.
The blade is 1/8" thick 1095 with his superbly sharp convex edge. OAL is a little over 13" with 7 1/2" of blade. The scales are bloodwood with brass pins.

In hand shot.
The balance point is right where the handle meets the blade. :tu:
Batoned through some wood after chopping some random small limbs around the yard.
They cleaned it off and cut up my buffalo steak for lunch. It's a damn good blade for kitchen work.
All told I'd say this is my new favorite big camp knife. I don't think a blade this size needs to be super thick at all. I plan on beating the hell out of it. David is likely to track me down if he knew I wasn't using it.
I still have a smaller 7" OAL, 3 1/4" blade companion knife to finish. I might make up a piggyback rig for both of them.
