Large knife challenge

The small knife challenge was started by S ShaiHulud . This is the flip side of the coin.

This is the large knife challenge. Do you usually carry a small knife (less than 3” blade)? For one month, you have to only use [any] knife that is longer than 3 inches in blade length for all your
day to day cutting/edc tasks.

There is a twist however: every time you find that longer than 3 inches worked better for you, you HAVE to write it down. At the end of the month long challenge, count how many times a larger knife worked better for you then post up.

Any takers?…..

I don't think I have Many knives under 3" in length ?

My current edc is a 4.5" blade length , and that is a major reduction in size of the normal 6-7" blade size I'm used to concealing . I am Not going smaller.

I'm challenging myself super hard by doing both challenges simultaneously. For one month I will only carry knives that are either under 3 inches or above 3 inches. Wish me luck.
Pfffft. Somebody needs to post the “carry nothing but the Awesome Hossom from now until eternity challenge” just for you.:p

Longer than 3 inches does not a large knife make.
3.25-3.75" blades are normal for a lot of people; and the 3" or under crowd probably won't be too bothered by the likes of a Spider Monkey or SHF. (I thought the rebuttal challenge was going to be at least 4 inches)

What about the number of times one might feel hindered by the larger blade, and thought that a smaller blade would be better?

Over 3", or over 4", this is going to be an easy month. (I can't carry a 4" blade at work; but I don't NEED a knife at work...I carry one because I feel nekkid without it.)

3 and up seems like an easy month yes
Knives are valuable tools, and better to have it and not need it and all that, for that purpose, as I heard someone say, you don't need a large knife, only a sharp one, not to derail the subject or anything

Hence, the preface of: “Do you usually carry a small knife (less than 3” blade)?” I would think those folks would consider over 3” larger than 3” and down (small). Not everyone has a 4”+ folder. I’d venture to say most don’t.

Knock yerself out. Want to rewrite it to 4”+? Want to add they must record any instance of the larger blade hindering them? Be my guest. Knife “challenges” are not serious bidness.

Just in case it wasn’t clear, this isn’t for you. This is a challenge for people who typically use knives with less than 3” blade length.

Guess I'm out then...
I was out of the small challenge and still am until the 85 comes in. Some things aren’t for everybody.

If you usually carry larger knives, keep on keepin’ on, but I wouldn’t call it a “challenge”.

Hell, I “challenge” you to eat a meal tomorrow. Or something else you do literally every day anyway.

By the way, this challenge isn’t for me either.

I'll have to take a rain check, unless you count 3.1" as being "over 3 inches", which I kinda don't. Gots a Leaf Hopper on order and due soon. You know the deal with new knives, hard to carry anything else for a spell.

I’m gonna start carrying both sizes at the same time so I can participate in both threads by whipping out the Large when the Small would be more than sufficient and only using the Small when I could clearly benefit from a larger blade but instead would rather struggle to get the job done with the shorter one.
