Large knife challenge

Hey, a desk job has been real kind to me! And my hands šŸ˜‚
Just pokin’ at ya bro. That blade would make anybody’s mitts look small. And supple. Can’t ignore the suppleness šŸ˜†

Dude, I’ve been thinking about getting one of those just as a ā€œlook at THIS shitā€ type of toy. Is it worth it?

It's a beast, but honestly, I traded into it, I don't know if I would spend cash on it. Though it would work great for cleaning up my bird of paradise bushes... šŸ¤”šŸ˜‚

I don't have a whole lot of selection in the over 3 inch category. The non rotating thing was my own
parameter.

Funny thing is, I'll carry the same knife for months or years on end by choice. As soon as I try to commit exclusively for some sort of "challenge" is the only time I have an issue.
I'm the same way. Every time I say I'm going to carry a knife for x number of days I immediately get an urge to swap out or buy something else.
I'm not sure how you can do _without_ >> 3" blade at all, on a daily basis.

Unless you eat only Wonder Bread and somebody else cooks for you.
Unless you are breaking down a whole chicken or turkey I don't know that I ever need a knife larger than 3 inches. I have often used a Delica or Para 3 in the kitchen without issue.

Of course you could slice a loaf of bread or a ham with a Para3. But why would you ? Try that with your Delica:

These single knife challenges are silly if they assume that there is a block with large knives at the ready in the kitchen. Of course if your mom or wife cooks for you, you don't need them.

I'm the cook of the house actually and we don't eat a lot of bread. šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

But I also have a kitchen knife set for when it's needed.

Glad you have what works for you.

Well, it's been a little over a week. Haven't had any situation arise that I couldn't have handled with a smaller blade.

This is all beside my normal machete work of course, but I didn't think that was the spirit of the challenge.

Can't claim any EDCing but I did carve the Christmas turkey with a TOPS El Chete last year!

Still packing a Combat Troodon daily, but this ā€œchallengeā€ isn’t for me.

Still trying to make up my mind on something for the small knife challenge. I carry a small slipjoint (Bunny Knife) every day, but no way am I getting by with just that. I have too much big and/or tough stuff to cut.

I would love to do this one in the winter, with coat pockets and backpacks, but the weather is already nice enough to switch over to smaller knives that go into pants pockets and IWB carry.

This is like Schrodinger's Challenge. I carry a folder with a greater than 3 inch blade pretty much every single day...but also tend to carry a slippie in the other pocket with a 3 or usually sub-3 inch blade. Therefore, it's clear that I have both won and lost this challenge.

I’ve been carrying a large folder (3.5ā€ or greater) since I was in my teens. I’m in my 50’s now, so I think I already won this challenge.

This is what's referred to as "The Quiet Paradox".

Do you usually carry a small knife (less than 3ā€ blade)?
The only knife I regularly carry , under 3" , is my micro Recon , on my keychain .

That almost never gets used . Just there for backup .

In the kitchen, I do use some short paring knives .

I have no intention of trying any small knife challenges . I like big , even my folders are mostly 4-6" blades .
