I agree. It doesn't really speak to the quality of the knife, which may be of the very finest, but it just gives it a "cheap" and "gaudy" look. Kellam knives come to mind but there are many others. I want to purchase a Kellam (et al), but I abhor the script and scribbling all over the blade.
BM, Spydy, BRKT, and even Busse's simple "BUsse Combat" (just a few examples) are fine by me and, in fact, desireable. But any attempt at script like "Wolfkiller", "Freedom Fighter", "Bushmaster", etc etc, makes a fine knife look like a toy. I'm buying a serious tool - a knife - not a toy.
Brief, subtle blade markings add class to a well-made knife.
