Larry Chew Is A No Good Thief/crook/liar,

As true as the situation might be, as much as you've tried to make a case for the truth trumping libel or slander, the title of your thread may have busted your case! You might have had a chance up to the time you used the words "thief, crook, liar."

My opinion only.

Why is he a crook? He didn't take anything from you. You still have the knife right? If so then whats the problem?

You couldn't find a replacement in 5-6 years for a new knife?

You guys have NO IDEA of what's transpired over the years and I can assure you that there are MANY people that would like Mr. Chew's head on a plater.......'nuff said. :barf:

The search function is your friend.........

I see nothing wrong with the titile as long as txlazer can support his claim that Larry promised a knife within 60 days and did not deliver. (Lie). Larry also has a knife belonging to Txlazerand it's been 5-6 years and still no delivery from Larry. At this point it might be construed that Larry has the knife "with a purpose to deprive the owner permanently". (Theft). Now, if Larry did in fact commit the two nasties as alleged by Txlazer he just might be right to say Larry is no good

Talk about patience!!! That's amazing to wait this long for a knife promised in 30-60 days. Can I assume the "I forgot" excuse won't fly because you have been talking with Larry???

If this is his mode and manner of business it is a good thing he has lawyers on call. I don't know the guy, I do remember he hit a Coyote or something on His MC and really busted up a wrist. But that was many, many moons ago and I presume he has since healed.

If Larry posts on this forum maybe he will give us his side of the story.

Or maybe he will do nothing.................................

***Edited to fix spelling

Fair enough question, when ever I was able to chat ( e-mail or phone once or twice a year at best) with Larry about our situation, he would always have another major problem in his life, I felt sorry for him and truly thought that he would make me a fancy covert someday. but as time goes on and he no longer returns phone calls or e-mails I figured NOW IT'S TIME" for the letter to the public.

BTW I'm happy to answer ANY questions about this matter
i do feel for you, and i must say you are a much more forgiving man than i. and if all this is true(no reason to belive it isint, but i dont know you, you know what i mean) than i feel you are more than justified in these actions, and the case would be a waist of time because as soon as both parties had all the info it would be more likey that he be the defandant lol

I can never understand why makers will risk destroying their reputations in this way.

If he sues, countersue. This will give you the chance to get him in court, right where you want him. Hopefully you have kept everything that would prove your case.

Actually, it is normal for the person who is wrong to come back with threats. It is not suprising he is threatening legal action,it is a deterrant tactic. My feeling is if he has the money to waste on Lawyers & Lawsuits,he would have just refunded your money for the knife he got from you, if he didn't want to make you another. In anycase,Your certainly more patient than I would have been.

I think you're safe from a successful slander suit.
Slander is a very difficult thing to get someone on, at least in print/media.

Don't tell me another talented maker has come down with "Reputation Suiciditis"
I hope Larry jumps in here before it's too late. I have never dealt with him but based on his online persona I thought he is/was a decent human being.

It is never too late. I'll wait to hear the other side first.

If you can drive to see him in court , why don't you drive to see him.

S/F,
CEYA!

You're not alone...

+1

I had a Proto-Covert #5 Desert Ironwood burl, I sent in for repair like 3x. (bad leaf springs kept snapping)The final time it was supposed to be replaced. An offer Larry made and I took him up on it. This was pre-accident era. I gave him some room during this and was patient. 2yrs went by and I got a free Cujo XL after posting the info. Every three months or so I'd get an answer of soon, defintley, I have a show first, etc. I never got the knife I wanted. I did get my money returned. The free Cujo XL did make up for things, but I wasn't happy with the end result and fear the day I'd ever have to send one in for repair again. Its a shame, he was one of my favorites. The Covert DAs were sweet.

My thing was I kept seeing new models like you see for sale out there. 20 run exclusives etc. SO I know he was making them, just not mine.

Hang in there, hopefully he does care enough not let it kill his reputation to the point of no return...
