Sorry, not laughing at your situation, just this response. Great visual.

Good luck.

I would love to see that. I wonder what Larry would do? I think if he was smart he would just let it go.

I tell you. This kind of crap makes me think long and hard about dealing with custom makers.

There's the Dale Chudzinski thread, the Rusty Polk thread, and now this one.

Most makers would rather poke themselves in the eye with a sharp stick than do the kinds of things those makers have. It's a shame that a small percentage of unethical makers can have a negative effect on some people dealing with custom makers.

Luckily the several dealings I've had with custom makers have gone very well. Most do I'm sure, but it's the few bad experiences by others that have the potential to hurt the community as a whole...

These guys do not represent custom knife makers, they represent no one but themselves. They are far out numbered by good decent honest knife makers. My experience has soured me on one knifemaker, and one knifemaker only. There are plenty of other custom folks who's knives I hope to own one day, the list is long.

I sent Larry Chew the link and nothing more. Thought it fair that he be aware of this public dialogue about his business practices. His response was...

no thanks,

If you or anyone else has a question for me I welcome the inquiry. I will gladly answer direct questions with direct answers.

Larry

Sounds like he's open to questions.

the smith's who have bad reps on GB&U are the exception not the rule, 99.9% would rather eat dirt than do anyone wrong, they will go above/beyond to make ya happy, i certainly wont lump in the likes of chew/alan blade/corkum/et al with all the truly great smiths like crawford/terzuola/mayo/ralph/elishiwitz the list goes on & on & on.

its just like life, good folks, bad folks and indifferent folks, imho in the knife world the good way outweigh the bad and indifeerent.

"It is amazing what can be done with the right meds"

Oh, now they are making "I am not a scumbag liar pills now???

Well, Larry (if you're reading this), perhaps everybody else is a Gregg sock-puppet (tho I rather doubt it), but I can guarantee you I'm not. And I have to say, assuming that things are as Gregg and others have related them, you're coming across as something rather less than an upstanding businessman. Six years to make good on a promise of 60 days? For shame! Then, after your customer, your inconceivably patient customer, finally, out of frustration over broken promise after broken promise, culminating in you apparently beginning to dodge communications with him, posts here, you promise to move him to the bottom of your priority list?

We have a saying on the 'net, Larry: "The 'net never forgets." You might ponder the implications of that.

FWIW - I hope Txlazer gets his knife sooner rather than later (ideally first on the list), and I ALSO hope that Chew is sincere that he is back on track, as I think he makes a very nice knife and hope to one day have one myself. That depends on how this one plays out. Good luck to you Larry, and same to you Tx.

You guys are being too nice...

txlazer
here is an E-mail Larry Chew sent...I'm not feeling the love...I will continue to keep you at the bottom of my list

Hey, LARRY, you made a deal with a customer who has paid you money. Your response to him is so un-professional that you make me sick. I hope to see you at a show so we can discuss this in person. I'm an expert when it comes to attitude adjustments.

CHEW on this, :jerkit:

Alvin

Alvin, I'm just wondering how old you are considering about half of your posts are threats. You sound like a fairly young man full of bravado to me.(And there's nothing wrong with that in it's correct place.) And yes, the people you are threatening may not be the most honorable people in the world but to hear you threaten all of them in your 25 posts is rather comical and sad at the same time. Personally, I've always found that it's the quiet guy who is the tuff one, not the guy who says he's gonna do all sorts of bad stuff. YMMV

And after seeing Larry's post about the love I can only hope future potential customers see this thread and decide to go elsewhere.
