Las Vegas Antique Arms & Knife Collector's Show

We had a great time at the show. It was by far our busiest show ever.

I didn't think the show looked like a flea market. I've been to flea market shows and this was not it. However, this was not you normal knife show. The look and feel was different. In my opinion it was not bad, just different. We discussed sales with knifemakers who came to our table. Several makers sold out very early in the show.

The line to get in was unbelievable! Matt's idea of advance ticket sales may be a solution to this problem. The security personnel were very courteous to the table holders. I never had any problems entering or leaving the show.

We will not be at the show next year because we've planned a vacation that will end a few days before the show.

In fairness to Wally, the option WAS given to purchase the $90 ticket well in advance of the show's opening. I bought one last year, and received a mailing with the offer a month before the show this year.

WOW!! Good reports and great unhappiness.

I did not have a table as I had to spend most of my time at the shotshow. I was there Thursday and found almost no makers at their tables. If the makers knew that people were paying a high price for being allowed in on Thursday they might show up early. I came back on Saturday and found a GREAT knife show in progress. All of the people I talked to said that they were haveing a good show.

Have you EVER been to another knife show that provided free buses every half hour to all the major hotels?

Only the most popular makers can afford to refuse sales before the friday opening.

The lottery that Horn, Onion, Emerson run in an effort to achive fairness is the only way they have come up with to avoid riot like behavior at thier tables. Why bitch if you do not have a suggestion that will work better?

Beinfield is the most successful show opperator in the U.S. he really knows how to do a show. He will listen to suggestions and advice.

Try telling him what you liked and what you did not. People who tried that in New York years ago were told that if they did not like the way the show was done they did not have to come back. Many did not.

My personal opinion is: This Vegas show is the growing better every year since Beinfield bought it, and, if the makers continue to support it in growing numbers as they have been doing this show will become the strongest knife show in the Western United States.

I do have some advice for Wally: take advance registration for three day passes and four day passes. Then people who use that service can avoid the long lines. A. G.

There are multiple shows every week. Until some die out and the best remain there will continue to be dismal shows. This is my opinion of course but you can have too much of a good thing.
