Las Vegas area Knifemakers?

Hey, I'm looking to start making knives as a hobby, but really don't know wehre to start. I was wondering if there are any knifemakers in the Las Vegas area who would be willing to let me watch and learn a bit. Thanks in advance for the help.

Hey Joe, I'm in the Las Vegas area and will be glad to help you in any way I can. Just be warned that I'm new also. Call me at 595-0353. However, if there is an experienced maker around, I would also like to observe and ask a few questions.

Just a hobbyist here , I am out in Henderson , due to the heat I dont work much during the summer. Shoot me an email and maybe we all can hook up.

There is also a maker out in Pahrump ( goes by Valkman ).
 
thanks T-dogg... we got a decent group of aspiring makers in the valley.

One of these years we need to get everyone together during the Vegas show ( January ) and have a grind in.
 
I sure would like to get in on that event for sure! Even a meet at a local Tavern just to visit a while! By the way, what show is here in Jan.?

It's not huge , you can see the whole knife show in a hour or so if you don't stop to talk.

For us local guys , it's a darn good show to check out.

We should put something together soon and get the local's out for get together.
 
Wow, lot's of help here. I'm going to have to get in contact with some of you guys so you can show me the way to do this.

He is a super nice guy, makes some really slick and super clean knives, AND he's the biggest back-street boys fan on the block! :) ;)
 
awww shucks , thanks Nick... I am just a hobbyist with a grinder and some other tools.

but I quit following the band when you quit and went on the American Idol tour.. ;)

If you local guys wanna meet up some night or weekend , drop me an email. Without ac in the shop , I don't go out there in July & August ( summers are meant for trips to the gun club early in the morning with my sons ).
 
I am in the vegas area and I have been interested in getting into knifemaking, unfortunately I am living in an apartment right now until I get a house.
 
What does the first week of Sept. look like for everyone for a meet a an establishment that sells Cold and Frosty Beverages? Thursdays or Fridays work best for my scedule. Anyone????
 
long as it is after 5 during the workweek ( mon - fri ) it is good with me. I live in Henderson , but my real job is off of 215 & Buffalo.
 
Hello?? I am newbie..don't know much about knife making but I am willing to learn. I am out in between Henderson and Boulder City just shy of RR Pass Casino.

I understand that there is suppose to be some really famous knifemaker living in my area but I cannot for the life of me find any info about him..I undertand he had a couple of books published and all...Anyone help?? All help would be greatly appreciated..

It looks like you have a little bigger group of guys than we have in Reno. Is Melvin Nishiuchi still in Vegas?
