Las Vegas area Knifemakers?

I can make either weekend but will be there around 6:30 on the 4th and 5th. I'll bring some in my collection as well.

Yes....plan on bringing some (or all) of your work. I am waiting to see how many guys are going to make it before we pick the date (and the date is flexible...I just picked a couple to get the process started) and location, so maybe as time passes more will chime in.....

I dont have ANY of my knives that I made to show around , I have 25 that are about to go for HT. I can however bring some others , Erickson slippie , Striders , Rinaldi , Blackwood , Simonich , Burke , Folts , etc.

If we do it next week , I might be able to finish one in time , I have a couple blades left from my last batch of HT from Paul Bos.

:)

Winchells Bar and Grill on Warm Springs and Gillespie....and Sierra Gold Bar and Grill on Jones and 215 (South) The last is the best in my opinion but it all hinges on how many guys we get. It will be a reserved room or a table in the corner somewhere.

The other spots were a PT's Pub (too small) and the other Sierra Gold South of the Sunset Station.

Which Thursday, the 4th or the 11th?

OK...lets aim for the Thurs. the 11th to allow time for more guys to get the word. It would be nice to have a larger group.

Bruce dropped by the shop last night , we hung out , talked knifemaking , showed some knives. Don't be a stranger bud , feel free to take me up on the offer of coming by and using the Bader and other tools :)

Well I'm no longer sure if I can make it on the 11th now. Will have to wait and see. I have a question for all you Vegas guy's making knives. Where do you make knives at? I have my shop in storage in texas, and have been desperatly trying to find a place I could afford in this town to start making knives again. If I rent/buy a house here I can do stock removal in the garage. But I prefer to forge. A big no-no in your garage, and god forbid the city find out or the hoa. If the prices keep coming down, maybe I can afford to rent an industrial space, but the cheapest I have seen so far is 800 a month. To steep for me to pursue knifemaking in. Any suggestions?

I dont forge , yet ;)
I would never leave somewhere where there is an HOA , just not my idea of living.

I have a detached shop out back that is close to 1140 sq ft.

Yeah I don't want to live in a HOA either, but renters really don't have much choice. Next time I get a day off I'm going to look at the spaces off nellis and cheyenne. there is also one just west of the 15 off sahara. If it works out your welcome to come practice forging. If I get it.

J.S.:

I guess that all depends upon where you live in the LV Valley. I know that Dr Jim has all the City of Henderson paperwork and home occupation permits and Business Lisence and all that other needed to be legal stuff

When I asked him about all of this he said that the folks at the City of Henderson were thrilled to have him move here due to that fact that they consider him some sort of artist or something. You should contact him through his website at www.atar.com I am sure he can fill you in on what Henderson city hall needs for a legit business.

Hey John...Thanks again for the info. and the invite! I will stop by for sure when I get back in town on the 22nd. I sure enjoyed the visit and all the help.

Jimmy....forging is what I would like to try some day when I live in a place that will allow it. For now, I do stock removal in my garage.

All you guys keep in mind we would like to find a time to link up somewhere. Throw up a post if your interested with a date and time that works for you. If not right away.....then maybe during the "Show" in a couple of months!
