Last Chance !!! VG KNIFE AUCTION ends SATURDAY 9:00 PM Eastern Time

thanks teksec. do you make sheaths? the knife i'm making myself to auction off needs one made. this is fun making knives to help vg. want to do one with me and we'll auction that one off too? i'm sure vg can use the help. i'll grind another blade and if i can get someone to stablize some tiger maple in exchange for some tiger maple, that would make a good handle. anyone that can help with this just post it here. i have a friend with a sawmill and lots of maple.

I have made sheaths, but I wouldn't call them star quality. They are functional so they work for me. Let me know.

Richard,

You already have a volunteer to make the sheath. From Las Vegas.

being as VG is a local ( sort of ) Vegasan , I am willing to do a leather sheath for the knife.

Judy,

He meant for one he is doing personally, not for the collaberation.

the one i'm doing will need someone to donate a sheath also. it will be auctioned off first. i managed to get a little over an hour on the mill again. tomorrow i will be cutting out the tang and mill the slot in the guard which will be nickel silver. it looks like it will be next week sometime when its done. then i'm going to make another large one but with a neoprene handle. i'll auction this one off too. it will have an integral guard like most of my other knives.

which one needs a sheath ?? I thought I was making one for the collab knife ?

now even I am confused... ( that aint hard to do ;) ).

Okay, my misunderstanding and screw up.

1. John from Vegas - you are doing the big huge collaboration knife sheath. This is the knife that Darryl Ralph donated the steel for. I think the blade is about 8" long.

2. TekSec - as you know, you're doing Richard's trial knife sheath. But you already knew that! Richard started the trial knife before he got the steel from Darryl Ralph.

I guess I should just stay out of this thread!!! Sorry, guys.

Judy

you are doing the collaboration knife. dont get confused. i also need a sheath for the knife i'm making from start to finish. its slightly smaller than the collaboration knife.

you have been a big help judy so join in anytime. sometimes it takes a womans touch to get things accomplished.

OH NO!!!!! I'm doing the knife? Holy Geez Louise. We are all in big trouble now. Where did I put that dang thing anyway? I saw it laying around here somewhere. Hey, where are my car keys? Where's my purse?

Where's my brain?

Sigh.

Especially a nagging woman! :D

Hey! Hey! Hey! You can't be taking about me that way. Giggy/Rambo wouldn't like it. Oh, I forgot. :( Giggy/Rambo broke up with me......:( :( :(

so, Esav, I guess you CAN talk about me that way. :D But if Giggy/Rambo ever takes me back, you're gonna be in BIG trouble, Mister!

What are you going to do, nag him into it? :p

Nope. I learned all about that catching flies with honey trick...... and if I use a little honey with Giggy/Rambo - he might like it. A lot. And then maybe he would take me back. ;)

Now where did I put the honey? I bet it's with that danged knife I'm supposed to be making.

sigh. :(

sharpbycoop has generously offered to take pictures of both knives. i'm glad because my picture taking skills totally suck. chuddybear has generously offered to make the sheath for the knife i'm making. thanks guys.

i totally forgot about eric making the sheath. i have had so much on my mind that i dont know if i'm coming or going. a friend gave me a vacuum pump, another friend gave me a nice elk rack with plenty of handle pieces. i plan on stabilizing some elk along with some tiger and birdseye maple and making 3 more knives to auction off for vg using a piece of each for a handle. eric can make a sheath for one of thoes.

yesterday i mailed the collaboration knife to matt so he can make the blade guard and handle. the stabilized tiger maple is drying and i will see how it polishes up later today.

Richard, Are you going to install the scales before sending it to me?

It will help me with picking a sheath color and overall construction as I will know how thick of a rear shelf I will need.

How long is the blade? It looks to be about three feet long in the pics :D

i just talked with matt cook who now has the collaboration knife. after talking with matt, he suggested some changes which he will make and i'm sure they will improve the looks considerably. my eyes have been giving me problems so i welcomed his input on anything wrong. (i had some trouble seeing which gave me problems in getting the tip right which he said he will fix) the knife i'm making myself is coming along but slower than i expected. this weather has been messing with me. i'm going to shoot for the middle of next week or maybe weekend to have it completed.
