Last of the forums for me...was fun for a while

While the place has grown and changed remarkably, there is still much to be gained by participating here. I'm not on line nearly as much as I was a year ago, but still learn a lot and contribute what I can. It is too bad you feel like dropping out completely, but good luck in any case.

I will miss you Richard and hope to stay in touch.

After being around 20 thousand or so knife nuts over the last 3 days who treated each other with respect and had nothing but fun, maybe I understand a little where you are coming from. There are many times when I am pleased to be a member here mixed with times when I am disapointed and botherd by things that happen due to lack of respect, ignorance and rude behavior. I wish we could all gather at an event like this and learn what our world of knives is really like so evem more of that atmosphere could be prevalent here.

There are many wonderful people who choose not to participate here due to the occasional strife that occurs. It just is not a part of their experiences. There have been times when that strife has caused me to consider stepping down since it something that I have not experienced in 20+ years of collecting. The thing that keeps me hanging on are the friends and the many good things that happen here.

Always think of your fellow knife makers as partners in the search for the perfect blade, not as people trying to compete with you and your work!

I think that it is a polite thing to do; to announce one's departure, if it's a certain thing. Richard, thanks for your help in the past. Best of luck, and enjoy that family.

Sounds like a lot is going on in your life at the moment Richard. I wish you all the very best, both now and in the future. Have a good one!

Its all to easy to spend to much time here, sometimes being here is more fun than getting a new knife...

Sometimes I buy a new knife, just to share in the experience of members here. It feels nice to be part of a community, a family that understand and don't often judge. A good place with many friends! Any good member leaving, will be missed.

Richard,

While I didn't know you personally, I will miss your up front/hold no punches style. You have a wonderful way of calling a piece of ****, a piece of ****. That style will be sorely missed.

I knew you couldn't stay away. Now how can we ever trust you again? ;)

Well James, I guess the forums are kinda like herpes....you can only treat the symptoms, not actually cure the disease :p

Seriously, there were a few issues here that needed attention. They were priority and keeping them good is still a priority for me. Everything however turned out very well.

Mainly haunting a couple of low traffic forums has been most of my surfing time.....got the urge to poke around here a bit and decided I could now control the amount of time spent here.

So the saga continues.....

Richard, nice image :barf: I'm not sure if I prefer to consider myself addicted or infected. Either way it is something that stays with you no matter how hard you try to shake it.

Just surrender to the urges :p

Frankly, When I see posts like these I find them a little
difficult to believe.

I think I'm missing out on something here- where's the post you are responding to?

Hey Richard, we havn't talked for a while. I too got burnt out on knives. I think my last post was a couple of months ago. It happens to everyone. It's a good idea to limit the time spent here so you can do other things; that is what I am trying to do. I havn't visited bladeforums chat in a while, but I miss you guys and will probably start visiting again. Hope to see you there!
