Late model muscle....?

Dude, if you are breaking up brake parts at 190 or so, you seriously need to rectify that issue before ever trying to get that fast again.

Talk to a tech rep from the company my quess is either your brake proportional valve is dead, or you have knock off pads. we routinely run 140 to stop in short distances and i have only seen a few pads come apart and those have been less than OEM's in quality.

Been racing for 32 years on the street. I don;t know where you think street racers race, but 99% of the time, it is in empty industrial parks, unused state roads or huge parking lots at like 2 am. Yeah they are empty, usually it is meet, do a quick burn out, race, leave and meet somewhere else for settling up.

When 800 to 1000 hp street rods, street machines or pro streets meet up for a race, it is LOUD< fast< and quick. We attract unwanted attention so we usually have presets. Who, what, when, and how much are predetermined and once in a blue moon I will do a punch and run with some street tuner car, but that usually is over in under 5 seconds.

In 38 years I have seen one racing accident on the street, that was a one car roll over in a prostreet Maverick with a 500 CI race motor who blew a tire. Everybody walked away.

We don't race on crowded freeways. We dont race on busy streets, Most races are 1/4 mile strips with no entrances. Our current favorite spot is a vacant 2 million square foot distribution center that has nearly a mile long parking lot, easy to mark start and finish, and lots of ways out with minimal police patrols.

I am currently without a racer as i sold my last car to a kid with more money than brains. That was a 671 blower on a 454 in a 67 chevelle. The project now is a gen 4 firebird that is getting prostreeted now. I am thinking about a big inch small block, but the lure of Giganto 572 inch big block or one of the new rumored tall block 600 inch machines has my mouth frothing. The lower weight and frontal area of the Gen 4 camaro firebird along with cheaper NOS from dealers has me leaning this way. My son wants a factory five Cobra kit car, so that may be the next project. The sound of big block getting it on is just too sweet. When two built big blocks let it go, everyone with in a mile knows what is going on.

Street racing will be around as long as guys have balls. It is just a part of life to pull up and want to know who is faster.

Oh...Good.. just as long as you are carful when you endanger the public and yourselves...SO they have illegal racing fire and emt support???

The sound that is really sweet is the police car door as the lock you up, confiscate your cars and make you pay a big fine.

Yep street racing will be around as long as guys have balls and no brains.

Many drag strips have open racing, no excuse to do it on the street.

if the proportional valve was shot then i would not be uniformally tearing up all the pads. the brembos are doing fine for now, they seem to be holding up at higher speeds.

lotsa folks dont live near a race track FWIW.

doing it on the street isnt smart probably, but i dont have a problem with folks going out to the country in the middle of the night, now doing it on a major street in traffic, now thats really stupid.

thankfully, we never needed fire/emt's when we used to do it.

we had two industrial parks that we ran at, one was a viscose plant in the 40s and is abandoned pretty much. v dot uses it to store trucks and theres a race team working out of one of the factorys. one of the buildings has something to do with the military. we spoted several duce and a halfs and several armed men with m16s unloading something from a building one time, they dint take to kindly to us being there eather.

before the night that we were ambushed we perfered this location because of the small passages between and through the buildings, if the cops ever did show up it was so easy to hide in the ruins. we were busted one night and i spent 2 hours parked inside a HUGE warehouse behind some old machinery. when you drive through that place its like steping back in to the 30s-40s, it looks like a dick tracy movie.

ahhh I live in minnesota, we have one working drag strip in the state and it is only open about 4 weekends year.

If you had bothered to read, we do it where no one is around to run into. empty parking lots, industrial parks at 2 am. NO one around.

That accident was the only one i have ever seen, and I have probably been to 3000 races, participated in maybe 500?

Cops just write a big ticket, and never impound unless you are running a non legal car. Most cops are smart enough to know that if we are racing in an empty place, we are just risking ourselves. Close off the outlets and people will go back to running on main street. like we did when i was a kid.

Whats your beef ? We are not bothering you, we are mostly doing it away from houses or busy places, the whole Idea is to run with no one getting busted or hurt.

I don't know where you live, but one of the fun sounds of summer is having your windows open and hearing far off some guy running up the gears in a big motor.

Every summer we have two events held at the state fair grounds, one is the MSRA back to the fifties car show, one of the biggest in country. and the Car craft summer national car show. Both are attended by some 50 thousand people. 10,000 cars. From near or all stock to Un fricken believable, like the triumph TR 6 with a dual blown big block ford and 18 inch wide slicks in back. the 8-71 blower on the 572 hemi in the 928 porsche. The rambler american with a Z06 motor in it that is so slick it looks like a factory show car. People love this stuff, if it bothers your senses read another topic.

Is it illegal? Is it dangerous? No need to tell me about fun...Spraying graffitti is safe and fun too...

100k show up at an illegal event? please spare me the twisting facts. they show up at fairs.

Where did you get the idea that both of these events were illegal?

I was saying having 100K people show up for hot rod shows, and the purpose of having a hot rod is having fun, and stepping on the gas, means it is not just me.

I just choose to say I will not have a battle of wits with someone who is unarmed.

The '05 Miata was available in a turbocharged Mazdasport edition. I can't think of anything that would be more fun to drive.

The Mazdaspeed MX5 was also available in '04. Here's mine

My '03 MINI Cooper S was lots of FUN too :D

I race my bike all the time as the worst that could happen to someone else is a big dent in their bumper from my head.
