No DuraCoat for a change! Just going broke buying wet sand paper!
Meet Crystal Light. Besides the hours it took to do the blade polish (even the full tang!), she sports a set of crystal-clear polyurethane epoxy scales. If you've been wondering where I've been for the last couple of weeks, I wasn't at Blade, I was making my fingers look like prunes wetsanding and buffing these scales. I like the look, though. The antithesis of the stock Becker black.
To make matters worse, I'd made the scale mould from a set of scales that had been modified, and the surface was textured to give any scales dropped from it some decent traction. All that traction had to be sanded off, or the appearance would have just been opaque.
Closeup of scales:
Is there anything you CAN'T do to these knives???
Oh, as a side note... since the scales are curved on one surface and flat on the other, they are a magnifying lens! Or reading glasses, depending on your age...
