Latest artwork. Meet the BK-15 "Crystal Light"!

wow!

just stumbled across this on google and it looks incredible dude! how much for a pair of those scales to order? ;)

Sorry. Those have been discontinued. The clear were very brittle for some reason, and even tightening the screws too tight would cause them to shatter.
I've tried several mixes of epoxies, brands, additives -- all to no effect. I thought I finally had the right combination and happened to drop one of the scales on the concrete floor and it broke into about 10 pieces! :sorrow: That was it -- I gave up.

oh.. such a shame, they looked incredible!

Do you have any other interesting variant handles in the making/already made?

That's a gorgeous knife, K-9. Just a thought, I once made some straight razor scales from plexiglas I got off Fleabay. They polished up pretty nice.
This is an old photo, don't know how clear it will show up.

like that plexiglass cut throat! very cool ;)

how will plexi hold up on a job like that big user knife?

Man, i cant believe i havent seen this thread. Holy smokes that thing is shiny!

btw, tgreen that comic in your sig is crackin me up

Having seen the knife in person, it was an amazingly well done job. The only downsides are that anything clear in that way is going to mar or scuff, and would then require rebuffing to regain it's shine and clarity. I believe there was an issue with the original handle scales that lead to a new set being made and shipped before they had cured 100%, although with a clear resin there is no telling if they ever could be 100%. Anyways, this caused them to "stick" slightly on the inside of the sheath, and lead to there being a few points of marring and discoloration that was in all likelyhood entirely unavoidable, but it does detract from the look slightly. Lexan would have made for a better handle material methinks, but to have that done would be exorbitantly costly. All in all though, it was an amazing looking knife to see first hand, and incredibly well done.
