Layered titanium alloy katana blade

that is one extremely appealing sword, dude! Those lines- dead sexy. A genuine heirloom object

Very cool!!

I'm with others, I can't wait to see it finished/mounted!

Very visually appealing!

Thankee, JParanee! The deal with this one was, the guy is supposed to send it to the pros for a hilt and saya, I was just to make the blade (but will make the habaki whether he likes it or not, it should to be bronze not copper due to the small, sharp tang shoulders). If he doesn't like it and wants a different one, then another will be made for him, and I'll seek professional help for the mountings on this one LOL!

The next one will be better as lots was learned making this one, but this is the first of its kind and that means something I think.

Would you like to stick it in the Diskin booth case for display at Blade? I can stuff it in a tube and send it out.

Very generous offer my friend but I would not want to be responsible :)

I’ll wait till you make me one about 26 inches. We will get Mirabile to mount it and we will all display it at Blade :)

That would be fun, but what if I told you...Mirabile already has, in his posession, a piece of the Titanium-Niobium bar stock...

I talk to him every day so that would make him in trouble :)

Damn right, give him hell for me! :D

That is one damn gorgeous blade. You freakin killed it bro

Thanks much, to you and everyone else. It was expected to be more curved, and there were some unforseen developments, and uh, things happened. Unexpected things. o_OLet's just say that bimetallic (trimetallic?) strips do funny things when subjected to heat and cold. It turned out good in the end, but I'm very excited about the possibilities, and am already working on the next one!

Update: The blade has been professionally mounted in shirasaya, until further notice. It has a heavy pure silver habaki. If and when the blade owner decides on a style for the full shebang (anything from antique hilt parts to post-modern titanium fittings), the shirasaya will be used as the base for the final mount.
