It has been a whirlwind of a year for me, the achilles thing is almost over, tree hit my house and the reconstruction is about 1/2 finished and all kinds of side projects. :D.

Took the day off today and shot some pictures of doctor's knives.

Richard Rogers serpentine.

Those are beautiful. That is one pattern I don't have that I always think I should. Someday.

Sorry to hear about your bad luck. Here's to a better year in 2011!

Those are amazing Gus. What a great variety.

If ya got some feel free to add them. No retreads though. New pictures :D.

It's a toss up for me; which one generates more drool. Is it the Richard Rogers Black lip or the Mike Alsdorf Black lip.

OR maybe the Mike Alsdorf stag!!!!:D

I get so weak when I see Doc knives!!

Gus, saying I'm jealous would be an understatement.

That Rogers tortoise is amazing.

The only doctors knife I've got is an Alsdorf in mammoth ivory that I carry to the office nearly every day.

great looking knives! Do they make good edc's? I'd think that spatula blade would have a lot of uses.

They do make a good edc depending upon your activity.

The spatula can come in handy for various things.
I have used it to expose small screws in small places, pushing something out of the way that I would rather not touch or take the chance of cutting, even used the tip (which has a wide cross section compared to the tip of a blade) as a screwdriver and as a probe to mess around with something I would rather not touch. :)

The narrow main blade is a little more limited than one with a belly, but makes for an excellent light duty office type knife. Obviously good for making a cut in a constrained spot it also makes for a good apple cutter too. ;)

Just guessing but I think you might like the Doctor pattern :D

Maybe, but whittlers and EJ's and trappers and stockmen and sowbellies and swellcenters and coke bottles and swaybacks and congresses and ... also float my boat, so it is too hard to make a call if they are my favorite.

Such variety Gus! From very traditional to contemporary, I'm astounded.
I've never seen doctors on a serpentine frame before. Very elegant.

The two blade serp by Richard is very cool and is one of my favorites. An old Ulster pattern in my collection was some of the inspiration for Richard's and Joe Kious's knives. I agree that they make for an elegant knife. That slight curve sets them off, but I imagine it makes things a little more difficult for the maker.

Very nice collection Gus. I particularly like the Richard Rogers in tortouse. The serpentine shape is really nice.
