As I was going through boxes the attic I haven't seen in probably 25 years, I came across my old LB8 I bought sometime back in the early / mid 80's I forgot I had packed away. It's still in very good condition, despite having been well loved and used for quite a few years. I cleaned it and put it where it belongs with my other knives. Having found it, I thought I might like to add an LB7 to the collection, and bought 2 nice examples from the Bay, both sub 99xxxxx. I'm looking forward to them arriving.I agree. If I had time I’d start building a spreadsheet with serial numbers and let people add their knives to the master list. It would be interesting how many are still around and still in service.
There is a master list of Ford N-series tractors on a tractor forum where people can add their 2N’s, 8N’s and 9N’s by serial number. It’s interesting to see where they are 70, 80 or 90 years later. Whether they are showpieces or working still or rusting hulks and where they are generally located. Lots of gaps in serial sequence but it’s amazing how many are actually accounted for.
